Q: I gotta say something and I'm not sure if this is going to go over all that well but: ANOTHER SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT DEAL?
REALLY???
how many of these do we need? Amplifr, MissingLettr, PromoRepublic, SocialBee, and how many others? Enough already. Can't we just find one really good one that does the job right that's ready for prime time? Hell, get an awesome one and charge $200 for a lifetime and be done with it already. Or even a recurring bargain price like this deal offers. I've bought a bunch of these and none of them really work all that well.
Here's what we need guys:
Syndication:
1) Ability to schedule and post across a variety of channels (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest
2) Ability to Customize one link across multiple social channels (240 characters for Twitter vs longer for FB vs ability to use simple formatting for Google+ (*bold* _underline_ -italic-) - just like Amplifr does it but let us choose a different image for each as well (either manually or through you putting in multiple featured images into the post/page.
3) Ability to tag others across the platforms (@twitter vs +Google vs @Facebook) tying them into those platforms so they actually show up tagged
4) Evergreen posts - ability to choose your own schedule and recycle your new and exiting posts. SocialBee and MissingLettr are trying but they aren't doing the job, not really.
Analytics
1) URL shorteners: Google, Bit.ly, and maybe a few others
2) Auto tagging for each channel (UTM tags say source=twitter vs source=facebook vs source=linkedin) - just like Amplifr does it.
3) Ability to see engagement for each post for each channel specifically and in aggregate
4) Recommended time slots that will get you your best engagement based on historical data and perhaps data throughout the platform crowdsourced
Curation
1) Ability to see what's hot in a specific vertical or a topic. Serve that up and give you the ability to click on it quickly and create a post
2) Ability to create schedules for the week(s) and review it so you don't spend all your time in this thing
Collaboration
1) Ability to have multiple team members with different permissions to different accounts/projects
2) Option to work with the client to allow them to see this stuff you've scheduled and approve it before it goes out.
Oh, and a decent mobile app for Android AND iOS.
Unless I missed something, that's it. You could say you may want an ability to create graphics in something like this but that's what Stencil is for - and it's THE BEST anyway so why mess with perfection?
Am I the only one who is burnt out on these half baked solutions? This isn't a slight on Crowdfire but how many more of these are we going to see? Quite honestly, I'm not impressed with any of them.

May 15, 2024A: These are excellent points! I agree having one tool to unify all of these is a blessing.
Here's what we do have:
- Ability to schedule and post across a variety of channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest
- Ability to Customize one link across multiple social channels (240 characters for Twitter vs longer for FB
- URL shorteners: (We have our own shortener right but we'll expand this to add your own)
- Ability to see engagement for each post for each channel specifically and in aggregate (This will be out in our upcoming release)
- Recommended time slots that will get you your best engagement based on historical data and perhaps data throughout the platform crowdsourced
- Ability to see what's hot in a specific vertical or a topic. Serve that up and give you the ability to click on it quickly and create a post. (We do this for articles as well as images!)
- Ability to create schedules for the week(s) and review it so you don't spend all your time in this thing
What we don't have right now, but it's either on our roadmap (or we'll add it based on feedback like yours)
- Ability to tag others across the platforms (@twitter vs +Google vs @Facebook) tying them into those platforms so they actually show up tagged
- Evergreen posts - ability to choose your own schedule and recycle your new and exiting posts.
- Auto tagging for each channel (UTM tags say source=twitter vs source=facebook vs source=linkedin)
- Ability to have multiple team members with different permissions to different accounts/projects
- Option to work with the client to allow them to see this stuff you've scheduled and approve it before it goes out.
Well said and some good suggestions there too.
things clear. Oh, thank you. I totally agree. I don't know why, but it's true that there isn't a social network management application that does everything WELL, they don't even have the basic management functions that have historical applications like hootsuite and others, and most of them (all those that we saw in appsumo?) don't allow to manage comments, automatic responses, etc, just cure and publish, or a little more. Thank you for reading my thoughts and saying it all so clearly
CoSchedule I believe checks everything on your list. I wish there was a lifetime deal because it's not cheap, but it works great. Integrated into wordpress couldn't make it easier to use. Have been using it for 2 years now and also found that none of the LTD are enough to replace it.
We have users that use multiple social media platforms together, some that are really happy with one, and some like yourself who is "not impressed with any of them" and that's fine! Happy to refund your purchase within the 60 day window or walk you through why I like each of these tools! Cheers!
I love you, Patrick!
I agree. I've bought several already from Appsumo and all are good, but not perfect. Yet each month (or even weekly sometimes) we get offered another that promises to be everything we need. Come on Appsumo, it is getting boring.
Patrick, you have put together an excellent list of what's needed. Maybe some enterprising devs will take that list and create it. I'll buy that :-)
I bought Amplifr, MissingLettr, PromoRepublic, and SocialBee (always in search of the best one) and I think PromoRepublic is the best one so far.
I looked carefully at all CrowdFire features, and I'm not seeing anything that it does that is can't be done with the others I've already bought. But if a person with a lot of social media accounts didn't already buy PromoRepublic and SocialBee, then CrowdFire might be worth it. Personally, I'm not going to buy anything except LTD's on AppSumo though.

AMEN! I was just posting the same exact thing!

This is a bit of a review and a bit of a rant on AppSumo. I love the deals but I used to expect them to curate some of the best tools out there and then bring them to the community. Lately is seems like if anyone wants to toss their stuff up here, AS is fine taking their cut and not very focused on finding truly great tools. In the past 6-9 months I've bought the following Social Media tools:
Amplifier - Not bad but needs some polish. UI is in Russian at least 20% of the time..??
PromoRepublic - Also not bad but focuses too much on giving you fluff content that no one wants. Cool editor tool.
Plannable - I like where they are going but like the rest, not really ready for prime-time. They are working on it though. I just don't have time to beta test..
Social Bee - A little different approach. Not my thing. Probably returning.
And now Crowdfire.
That's at least 5. I think I may be missing another one that I bought and got refunded. (Jooicer?)
I get the AppSumo premise and don't expect too much for $50. But, the reason its $50 is that the developer gets to reach a high-targeted audience and they also get to test out their stuff to see what features might be important to users. Think of the discount as a marketing program that the developer is doing and rather than advertise, they are giving a specific group of users a steep discount. I just wish there was a little more focus on finding category leading software and offering that to the community rather than 5-6 similar tools that are decent.
My need for a social tool is basically something like SproutSocial but for a better price. A way for me to publish easily, integration with tools like RiteTag, content tagging, scheduling, workflows, calendars, analytics and a mobile app that lets me share via the tool while mobile. I DO like the Crowdfire mobile app. And they have some other great tools (Chrome plugin etc).
What I do wish they had is more polish which seems to be a common thread with the AppSumo deals the past year. By polish I mean, hire a UX person and think through use cases that people have and really create an amazing experience in the software. There are too many places where a feature was thought up, developed and a user scenario really wasn't thought out. I'm not beating up on the dev, just saying that too many people know write software rather than develop a product.
Its too hard to find features or they are missing. Setting custom best times for my stuff? Had to dig for it and still not sure that's the right place. For Content, let me filter the content stream by topics/channels. I have multiple accounts and they have different topics. I can't select by channel or filter by it which makes the content stream almost useless - too much to wade through. Allow me to search?
AppSumo if you're listening, please focus on best in class apps please, quality over quantity.
Crowdfire, for $39, I'm still giving it a chance. I was trying to make Plannable work but its still not there, better but not there. Social Bee is getting returned and the others are going on the shelf along with the other apps I've bought the past year that missed the mark but have potential.
(For what its worth, there are a few that I love, Fleeq, Plutio, WebTextTool, Awario etc. CloudApp is AMAZING.)
My thoughts exactly when I started to read it was another social media tool.
Yeah I agree, enough. How about they bring back the Amplifr Deal! I would buy that again, but I haven’t seen anything to complete with Amplifr. They have unlimited posts & social networks and 6 project accounts. (Could have 6 businesses.)
Going to pass on this deal. The quality seems to be dropping with these Appsumo deals. I bought a stacked deal recently for lemlist and honestly for as much as I spent I expected a lot more... can’t even do custom html emails... so please, AppSumo, start focusing on quality and more beneficial platforms. Also bring back some of the best deals and give people who missed it a change to get in on it. Like Salesflare. I missed that one and would like to purchase that deal... in fact, bring back SALESFLARE, and AMPLIFR and I’ll buy both... as far as these other weak deals. Pass.
Thanks for trying though.
Tough to disagree with Patrick on this point. Why doesn't Noah do a new startup and come out with SumoSocial, putting all of these ideas into one ultimate tool that does all of it?
I know counting his many billions of dollars is a full time job, but surely somebody can pry him away from that long enough to greenlight such an idea.
Thanks.
P.S. I get it free because I gave you the name for it.
P.P.S. Yes, I know it's not many billions, Noah, just a few.
Now THAT'S a deal I can get behind!!!
Patrick, I have purchased 95% of all deals in the last two years. I use around 30% of them but I do not purchase them to necessary use as a tool. I purchase them to see what is the latest ideas and tools that are available. There is a great deal of knowledge that can be learned by trying out many of these tools. When I speak to clients, I get complimented on being the most informed digital marketer they have spoken with because I can help them find the right tools for their needs for the right price. Only recently, did I find two very suitable tools to solve my issues? Planable.io, outstanding! And this tool Crowedfire. Crowedfire helped me solve an issue of replacing Emphatic.co (Horrible service) because I can add the RSS feeds myself and create industry shares easily. It is a lot better than Buffer, and you have more control. In my opinion, it is better to have an not need then to need and not have. So I say keep them coming. Also, who complains at a lifetime deal. Seriously, APPSUMO does an outstanding job in delivering new tools every month at a ridiculously low value and on top of it almost every vendor is willing to even to change the deal or do updates to appease SUMOlings.
Patrick you 100% read my mind. ANOTHER social media management app.
I have nothing against Crowdfire at all, it's probably great and if I didn't have a million tools in this area - I'd seriously consider buying it.
But, I'm so saturated with options along these lines, I'm now ad blind to any tool remotely related to this area.
Come on AppSumo!!!!! Give the SMM tools a rest please.
Fair point, Judd (even if this is a cherry picked comment that is one of many others that was not approved for display). I guess my complaint isn't about a lifetime deal (which this is not) but rather potentially being yet another social media management tool that requires research and vetting that will likely not do the entire job. As you can see from my profile, I too have purchased my fair share of deals and I can agree that I don't use most of them regularly. There are a few that are gold (Cloudapp, ShortPixel, Webtexttool, to name a few) but the social media ones aren't in that category.
Now some I have bought because I *will* use them at some point (Webinar Ninja and Animatron) while others I have bought as insurance (a guaranteed lifetime discount) in the event that these platforms take off (like Salesflare and Plutio). There are very few I return (pCloud and Fleeq) because they just don't seem like they even work good enough now or the product structuring is going to not all be workable, long term.
I guess I just didn't expect EVERY SINGLE deal in the social platform category to fall into the "this may be good later on" category. Thus far, I've yet to get my hands on a social platform up here that has stayed on track with the promises made with their roadmap, Amplifr being by far my favorite and the most egregious of these promise makers. I've seen nothing out of them in a long time. Frankly, it's frustrating and concerning.
I'm certain they are all still working hard on their platforms but I just don't see the progress and it makes me think that these platforms are on the road to abandonware. Honestly, if Amplifr gets these evergreen posts and ability to tag other users/pages from within their console launched it's game over for the most part as far as I'm concerned. But that's been "coming" since I bought the deal.
PromoRepublic has a good content discovery component that I think can be a lot better but falls way short with the auto-tagging, analytics, missing networks, and sheer messiness of managing these accounts without any structure. I use Stencil but I could totally see the graphics creation module coming in handy.
Missinglettr is great but their schedules and user management experience go over my head or are just too much of an ask on their users – and I've been doing this since the beginning.
Personally, I would have preferred a $200 or even $300 lifetime deal for a platform that does everything so I can just be done with evaluating these social media management tools. I mean, how many does one person/company need? For me, that answer is 'one'.
I'm a perpetual optimist so I don't want this to come off as negative or unappreciative but I am feeling like this entire category is a waste of my time as I still need to Frankenstein together a solution across multiple tools - which is the one things all of these tools claim to eliminate.
It's also good to keep in mind we have over 750k subscribers and 150k active buyers (buy at least one deal a year). We get a high demand for different social media tools in with different functionalities.
We always get tons of people writing in because they miss past deals. The majority of our buyers aren't as active or checking our deals all the time - and would be a shame to tell them all "sorry, no more tools in this space because our more active Sumo-lings already have a solution - especially for a high demand category. Like most stores, AppSumo offers a variety of products and provides as much information as possible to help Sumo-lings make a decision. You don't have to buy every deal that comes out nor get upset when you already have something that solves your needs - there are needs of tens of thousands of others we need to also address.
The feedback on what y'all do need is solid and I will be taking it back to the BD team.
That being said, we are working on list segmentation so you don't receive deal emails for tools in categories you're not interested in. But in the meantime, if a tool isn't a need or a fit, just pass, let others enjoy it and get back to work and growing your biz :)

Id add one more mention about apps for mobile platforms, what @Patrick Healy already mentioned.
Why do developers forgot Windows phone?!
I understand huge amount of ppl use the above mentioned OS's but apart of having huge amount of apps ( in most cases just pure crap and for entertainment purpose ) and that comes from hardcore Windows platform hater ( aka myself ) who transferred from Android and IOs to Windows Phone.... They are not superior or better from Windows. So developers... also Appsumo, please consider it during Your other wentures, when ofering us the awesome deals in future!!
