Professional Full Site Editing with Gutenbeg

Given that, much of Gutenberg had a very rough start and many believe it doesn't know what it wants to be or who it is actually aimed at…

Cwicly is the first product I have seen that takes Gutenberg to a professional level. So, what do I mean by that? I mean, it uses the Gutenberg editor in the backend as a true WYSIWYG canvas. Combined with the Cwicly theme, you moreover get a powerful and full access full site builder. This means you will be using a well-structured interface directly on top of CSS properties and WordPress concepts, giving you many options in the process. This adds complexity and prior knowledge to mix. But it is undoubtedly what is needed to work as a professional web designer/developer.

This said, I am looking forward to how they will handle the experience for writers and clients after you hand off a Cwicly project. In such cases, the complexities should probably be to a greater extent hidden, locked down and simpler to use.

Furthermore, this approach works as mentioned in the upcoming “sanctioned” Gutenberg (FSE) world and has great potential there (although, the Open-Source project currently is moving slowly on releases). It also packs many features that would usually require you to install additional plugins. For example, it currently is bundled with ACF, giving you full custom fields support from day one. Moreover, you get Woocommerce-support and dynamic conditions and much more.

Given its professional capabilities and CSS support, it is more in line with Oxygen/Bricks than Elementor/Brizy, and I am more than happy to be onboard for the ride.

Hello Max,

Thank you very much for your detailed and generous review.
What you describe is exactly what we've been aiming towards.

The question about how to handle content creation and client interaction with Cwicly and more broadly Gutenberg is something we have been looking at. We have a few solutions that we will be putting forward to the Cwicly community to see what suits a content creator's needs the most when he isn't looking at designing.

Very glad to have you on board and don't hesitate to contact us if you need anything. We also love constructive feedback as we are always looking at ways to better Cwicly (if you have time 😀).

Thanks and see you on the inside.

Kind regards,

Louis @ Cwicly
