Q: It would be great if we could fill out a form spread over several days…

Deftform would actually be very suitable for making checklists. For example, for the onboarding of a new employee: Did they receive the notebook? What serial number does it have? What is the badge number? etc.

As a minimum function, however, it would be very useful if we could fill out a form over several days, because some tasks need to be completed hours or days later.

The first advanced function would be that when we fill out a form, we receive a unique URL that references the instance of the form that is currently being filled out. This way we can also share this link: The secretariat could fill in the questions related to them, IT could fill in their questions.

Thanks a lot, kind regards,
Thomas

A: Hello Thomas,

Something like that has been requested before and we plan to add this. So essentially it will allow people to save a form and return to it later this finish / continue it whenever they want.

Yes, this is actually much needed as well. I would also love the ability for user to save his/her settings (selected radio buttons, options, inputs, etc.) and when the user comes back to the same URL - option are restored either from cookies or local storage. This way, Deftform could evolve to create even more advanced and useful mini apps without us requiring to fiddle with custom JS embeds.

😢 I am very sorry, but this concept:
> "option are restored either from cookies or local storage"

is quite prone to errors and data can easily be lost ☹️.
And if someone is working mobile and, for example, start using the form on the Notebook and finish it on the Smart Phone or some Pad, it will not work ️☹️

If the form data is stored on the Server, them we get a new, useful use-case and a team can share one form and work on it 🙂

@Jehoschua My use case is quite different. I use Deftform for creating apps and SaaS. Sometimes people want to preserve their settings, email and just change one text area. Saving this kind of information would be bonkers for me as Deftform is top-notch for creating micro SaaS and monetizing them 🤑
