Q: I'm interested to learn more about the accounting capabilities of Deskera.

Presently we're using Debitoor for our bookkeeping in Germany. Therefore, can you please answer the following:

1. Is Deskera supporting German language?
2. Can Deskera report quarterly and monthly VAT to the German tax office through their recognized API Elster?
3. Can you produce a balance sheet and P&L with Deskera for a customized period?
4. If the answer to either 1, 2, or 3 is No, are these features on the roadmap and have an ETA?

Thanks.

A: Hi,

Deskera does support the German Language in Books and CRM.

Please find an article on German Tax compliance below.

Yes, we do support filtering balance sheet and P&L via date range.

We do have plans for additional features for German compliance as part of our roadmap.

Thanks for the information. I had a look at your roadmap for German compliance. It's merely scratching the surface and rather, dare I say, following a US approach to accounting. I suggest getting a tax advisor from Germany on board. For example, submitting VAT reports through the German Elster platform directly from the accounting service is a standard feature without which you won't stand a chance of gaining traction in this bureaucratic market.

At this point, Deskera won't suit my needs. The question is whether I invest in your roadmap and hope for improvements down the line. I've plenty of US-based accounting apps that merely change the layout and definitions, believing that it's all there is to German compliance.
