just not for us -- or any service-oriented biz that needs to track time by client/customer and possibly project and then invoice -- ala Freshbooks, QuickBooks, etc.
Been in IT a long time and seems to have a lot of options and features including help desk and tickets though I am not sure why they haven't extended that to track all the time related to a ticket and then allow you to specify it as billable or not.
Never got an answer from support but found a response in Appsumo listing Questions after we purchased.
Again, very impressive compared to other SME accounting software options we have worked with for clients in the past.
I thought this was a great deal and bought 6 for each of my companies, planning to switch from Xero to this. Even getting set up was a pain and I had a lot of difficulty connecting with my banks. I have not heard back from their support yet and the last time I asked it took a while to get a response (which didn't quite answer my question re bank connection).
Am now just waiting for support to respond before I cancel all the 6 purchases.
This software does not meet expectations. You have to download an app to automate depreciation for fixed assets which should have been built in from the start. You had better spend considerable time when you first get the software adding all the categories you ever expect to need as the software demands you assign assets to a named group, but won't automatically create the group if it doesn't exist. Often transactions become immutable after creation so you can't edit them to fix simple typos or rename them to make them more specific. The Stripe integration appears broken as does the WooCommerce integration. If you delete your account, quite a bit of information remains in the database making it hard to come back if you change your mind (ie phone and emails have to be changed). The company is in Singapore, which makes data processing disclaimers complicated.
I rarely review, but I wanted to share my disappointment after purchasing this deal based on other highly-rated reviews.
When the creator says Deskera is an all-in-one accounting, sales & HR software, it means that it is a stripped-down ERP. The entire platform is filled with ERP related features that maybe small businesses don't need and no option to hide it. Ignoring the extra features are fine, but some are required so now you are forced with additional tasks in your workflow.
Deskera contact management lacks the basic features of first name, last name, company name. They just have name and address. Then you can only have one email per contact, so when you dealing with multiple persons of the same company, you need to create multiple contacts of the same company name and address.
You can have up to 5 email reminders for your invoices, but you only have 2 templates, before due and after due date. Thus I can't have a different email template for urgent reminder when invoice due tomorrow, vs when invoice will be due in 2 weeks.
They have built-in NET30 and others for your invoice payment terms, and you can add your own terms, but you can't edit or delete theirs original NET30. They don't have custom payment term that due end of the month, or first of next month.
The worst limitation is the 1000 characters in product description. The UI don't even hint about the character limit and simply cropped out your pasted data. Don't bother to use custom fields here because it won't appear in the product list columns of your PDF invoices.
While they have many PDF templates, once you start customising it you are stuck with what the template can do. There is only one colour scheme you can change, and there is no way to resize the your logo. You can't change the wording Quotation into Quotes, or any other labels, so you stuck with Quotation No as label instead or your own label like Ref No. You can either show or hide a section only. The columns of your items cannot be resized to your liking. Quantity and unit are in separate columns, so instead of 5 boxes, it is 5 then next column boxes.
On the surface you will be excited with their many features, but once you start diving deep on each function, you are stuck with the limitations.

Hi,
Thank you for posting a review. Let me try to assist you on the various issues you have shared
Deskera Apps has one major feature of adding Custom Fields, hence any additional detail that you need to tag to your Contacts can simply be added as a custom field for Contact and you can also print it in Invoices or Orders (and also filter the Contacts by that field)
The invoice reminders as you explained are only for Before Due date and After Due date. This functionality will further get enhanced when we release the Workflow automation fully for Deskera Books as that would let you create custom reminders
For the Payment Terms, we would note your suggestion regarding setting Due Date as 1st of Next month or End of Month
For the Product Description pointer, there is a word limit. If user requires to add more details to the line item products they will need to add additional fields.
I would also like to add that we do have the option to print Product Level custom fields in Invoice templates using our offline template designer. Refer this tutorial to understand more on the same -
With regards to your point related to customizing Invoice layout, we have 2 options
1. Online document designer - for relatively simple modifications 2. Offline document designer - for full scale modifications that can be done on an MS Word template
Please do share if you have any further queries or feedback.
Unfinished product with lot of bugs and misleading offer
Their single code plan comes with 1 power user and 10 free user (they don't have any explanation about this 10 free user). It clearly mean that these 10 free users which we can assign role like accountant, HR or any other functional person with limited access to specific tool.
We just started using People functionality and found couple of bug which we reported their since last 2 days. Most of the feature are having bugs or no proper explanation about its process.

Hi,
Thank you for posting a review
I would firstly like to share some sources from where you can get information on how to use our App
- Support page - https://www.deskera.com/care/ - YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/c/DeskeraSoftware/videos
With regards to the clarification on the users front, we allow you to add 10 users to Deskera Books & CRM. In addition to that we allow 100 employees to be added to Deskera People (for payroll, leave tracking etc)
If you do face any issues our supported team would help get them resolved at the earliest
It has an all in one arsenal of wants and needs for my business. Im a little superficial so UIux is not necessary to its great plus all the tools, bells and whistles are working for almost any business need.
On paper this this thing looks awesome - lots of features, good price etc.
But when you start to use it - wow, what a train wreck.
Examples:
Two way sync with gmail works, until it doesn't, then it does again. But it isn't really two way sync because if you send a message in gmail it doesn't show up in Deskera. Also seriously, why are we using IMAP for this? I had to create an app password for 2FA etc. This is so simple to hook into Google properly these days.
Automation is a complete mystery to me - it looks simple but I couldn't really get anything working in any tangible way. Drip campaigns aren't possible by the looks of it (despite having some blog posts on it that don't really explain anything).
SO MANY UX BUGS - In sales CRM and want to go to another app. Click the home button. Oh wait, that takes me to my user profile. Press it again, oh now I'm home. Honestly, it's pretty frustrating as this happens a lot in all sorts of areas in the product.
OK we just got a deal in the CRM sales pipeline (which by the way you can't change in any way, you have to create a second pipeline). Let's send them a quote. Head to the finance section and you have to enter the customers details in again. There's no sync. Maybe that's what the automation section is for but that doesn't work.
Quotes seem to be locked to your local currency. There seems to be no way to change a customer to another one. Or at least I couldn't work it out. This seems to be one of many issues with this part of the tool (read the other reviews in Appsumo)
"Powered by Deskera" appears as default in Marketing emails. Get out of here with advertising your product in something we've already paid for!
Even if some of these have workarounds, the UX is so damn confusing at times that I give up.
This is a prime example of a product that looks and sounds like it'll be cool, but they've done the bare minimum on most features and it's nothing but frustrating to use. I really hoped to be able to move away from Pipedrive/Invoice Ninja, but this is just a trainwreck.
Inventory and Warehouse feature is a strong point on this program. For me, just the ability to track raw goods & finished goods in the same program made this a life saving.
Deskera interface is so polished, the data appears easier to see & analyze at a glance.
This is also a much more affordable solution when compared to its peers with similar or less. features. This is a must have CRM small business sytem.
Where to start, so you want invoicing TICK. So you want Warehouse Control, not just basic warehouse control but Batch Tracking, Multiple Warehouse, Stock Transfer. TICK For me it was about Australian compliance for tax. They did it in under 2 weeks from releasing deal. Lighting fast support, Good Bug fixing, Fast development. There is nothing to fault. Its only 4 months OLD and its this SOLID of a deal. Fantastic, can not be happier.
I tried to make this work. I really did. It is just missing huge amount of features which are standard with products like Quickbooks. We have 100s of transactions and it just does not allow for the customization of entries. Biggest gripe as of now, can't discount incoming payments for a credit card processing fee. They told me to do journal entries instead, which is pretty crazy considering such a function is basic in these days. I can see how this would work for a super small business, but not for a larger size.

Hi Tomas
If you are using Stripe etc for recording payments, the fee account is available to be mapped. We also have the option to map bank fees or transaction fees while recording payments
I've been using QuickBooks desktop for five years (it has more features than QB online). When I saw the Deskera deal, I thought it would finally be a solution to replace QuickBooks. After a month of trying Deskera, the jury is still out (I'm running double books for the first quarter to compare). I haven't found a total dealbraker yet, but I'm hesitant to jump full on in.
Here are a few pros and cons that stood out to me:
Cons: —Discounts (can only be by product line item), not a discount on the entire invoice (i.e. flat $ amount off or % off) —There is no way to stop the sync between Sales contacts and Books contacts. The issue with this is as you add prospects to "Deskera Sales," they muddy up your customer contacts in Books. —No ACH payment gateway —If you create a tax rate, you can't delete it (there is no warning about this on the screen) —Invoice and document templates are laborious to create (not intuitive) —On the P&L statement, there is no way to drill down —In Deskera Sales, there is no way to add a company name and a contact name (there's only one field). This is totally counterintuitive.
Pros: —Customer support is very responsive, although most often the answer is, "currently, this is not possible, but we'll share your feedback with our product team." —Nice interface —Mobile app is great —If you have multiple companies, it's easy to move from one to the other
The app is easy to use and is has more features that my previous solution. I am still setting up but I believe it will be easy to use day to day. The app is great, ux is good so far. It has more features than I need at the moment but not complaining about that.
Pros: -Excellent UI -Really good for beginners - Local tax compliance for some countries like mine. Yay - Mobile app is a gem & very functional. - App works seamlessly on both my iPad & Note 10 as well.
Cons: - Tiny pet peeve that each Deskera area(books, sales, people) opens up in a new tab. Wish it was a quick open section in the same window & dash.
If you have a business you NEED Deskera P.E.R.I.O.D
I am a solopreneur digital freelancer who was looking for a simple solution to do the accounting and help with GST filing( I hate accounting stuff but not yet at a stage where I can outsource it)
Then I came across the deskera platform and signed up. On the first look Deskera looks a bit too much for a freelancer, but trust me, once business grows you will be so thankful that you started using it much earlier.
Essentially 3 sections of Deskera - Books - Estimating, invoicing & logging payments - Purchase Requests, Billing and Payment to vendors. - Bank account integration to import transactions. - Reports both for Regulatory requirements and for business data. - Sales - Super powerful CRM - much much beyond what I had imagined I would get. Forms, contacts, segmenting, email campaigns, SMTP integration to send emails from own server, workflow automation. - Integrations with woocommerce, paypal, stripe and major payment processors. - Customer Support Portal and Ticket resolution center - Customer lifecycle management - People - Complete HRMS solution. Not something I personally am concerned with as of now, but definitely something for the future.
What I would wish - - Video tutorials of USE cases for digital agencies like mine. - Direct integration with GST portal for seamless GST filing in India. Please make accounting and regulatory filing easy for me. - More integrations ( like zoom for example to book meetings with prospects/leads)
Overall the UI is awesome. The roadmap looks superb! More than enough for my stage of business. So happy and proud to have an Indian team behind this product.

I had been pondering whether I was going to get this deal and I'm honestly over the moon that I didn't miss it. I had a small debate to whether I was going to use this or another program on AppSumo but between the feature-rich software and the continuous interaction between the owner/developers and the community, it was a no brainer. Can't wait to see what they have in store because it seems that they are always added new things.
This is my first time doing a review on this platform so that should say it all! Excited!!!
I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this to try it out, but it has tons more functionality than I had expected. Definitely keeping it, and I can't wait to see what they'll bring on their roadmap next.

Not the best
It used to work for me but now it does not. Invoices are sent to the customer on the wrong date with a wrong due date. Furthermore, overdue payment reminders are also not sent to the customer and recurring invoices could not be changed or discontinued.

Essentially 3 sections of Deskera
- Books
- Estimating, invoicing & logging payments
- Purchase Requests, Billing and Payment to vendors.
- Bank account integration to import transactions.
- Reports both for Regulatory requirements and for business data.
- Sales
- Super powerful CRM - much much beyond what I had imagined I would get. Forms, contacts, segmenting, email campaigns, SMTP integration to send emails from own server, workflow automation.
- Integrations with woocommerce, paypal, stripe and major payment processors.
- Customer Support Portal and Ticket resolution center
- Customer lifecycle management
- People
- Complete HRMS solution. Not something I personally am concerned with as of now, but definitely something for the future.
What I would wish -
- Video tutorials of USE cases for digital agencies like mine.

So Excited I didn't miss this!!!
Excited!!!

Way more features than I thought
I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this to try it out, but it has tons more functionality than I had expected. Definitely keeping it, and I can't wait to see what they'll bring on their roadmap next.
