privacy concerns

Initially, I was very excited to use Desklog with my small remote volunteer team, as several needed to document their volunteer time to a 3rd party. I played with it for a week and loved how easy it seemed to implement and use.

However, I noticed that there was no warning of being recorded given or acknowledgment of how extensive and some may say intrusive this software may be. Perhaps in the age of Zoom, I was hoping for a similar notice to the user, at least at first sign-up, to the effect of "your screen is being recorded".

When digging (truly digging, ie I did not get an email to advise the 'client' (myself) of responsibility) into this, what was being tracked, I found "tracked user data, including the app & URLs and screenshots, is retained for a maximum of the last 6 months for an active user". And it did not specify that only Desklog activity is being tracked. I have to assume that one of my adult volunteers could research a variety of things for a variety of reasons in their own time, and because Desklog has been installed or accessed on their private laptop, every bit of that is being monitored, but not at my request. What if they chose to watch adult entertainment on their own time? Frankly, I personally don't care, but I also don't want that being recorded, nor do I want responsibility for someone else's use. "If you are an Admin User, in connection with the Regular user’s use. you agree to indemnify and hold Desklog harmless (employees, officers, or directors), for reasons including but not limited to: any third-party claim of infringement of copyright or other Intellectual Property Rights, or invasion of privacy, arising from your User Content being hosted on the Software, and/or your making it available to other users of the Software," etc

So, because of privacy concerns for my volunteers while noticing the extensive reach of this app, combined with having all liability being solely mine as the Admin, I'm being advised that we not use Desklog under these terms.
