My guess is, that they mapped out the lowest tier to us (in case they change their original plans) and added a new plan/s (with higher limits) to Appsumo only. It seems smart on their behalf (thinking ahead) and if you are understanding it well, you will get credits every month for a one time fee.

Sounds win win to me.
