MockAnything tested – interesting base, but needs real template power

I tested Dynamic Mockups for one day, mainly using the MockAnything AI feature. I know this part is still in Beta, and that’s clearly stated, but since it was one of my main reasons for buying, I’d like to share honest feedback about what’s working and what’s missing.

Credit system:
In MockAnything AI, each new generation or modification costs 5 credits – including prompts and edits in step 2 (background, ethnicity, emotion, hairstyle, camera angle, etc.). Uploading your own image in step 1 doesn’t cost credits, which is positive. But each small change in step 2 costs another 5 credits, even when the result fails to render. That makes experimentation expensive. Bulk generations also use credits, which is fair, since they add real value and save time.

Workflow and undo limitations:
The process consists of three main steps:
1️⃣ Create an image via prompt or upload a base photo.
2️⃣ Adjust model details like ethnicity, background, hairstyle, or emotion.
3️⃣ Optionally change clothing colors and/or upload your own artwork.

Switching between the main steps is usually possible (e.g. 3→2 or 2→1), though not always smooth. Within step 2, you can’t undo sub-steps such as changing hairstyle or camera angle – once confirmed, the previous version is gone and 5 credits are deducted.

It would also help to allow free-text input at every stage. Currently, only the background accepts written prompts, while other options rely on dropdowns. Adding a text field for pose, angle, emotion, etc. would give much more flexibility.

Prompt guidance:
Step 1 offers a “Magic Prompt” option, but it lacks examples or clickable prompt suggestions. Some simple examples like “three-quarter view” or “soft studio lighting” would make it easier to understand how to build effective prompts right where users need the help.

Image quality and aspect ratio:
After several edits, images often lose sharpness. There’s no way to set a custom aspect ratio, so every result comes in the same format and must be cropped manually.

Alternative "AI-Template" workflow:
If you skip uploading artwork in step 3, you can download a blank mockup (with or without color changes) and later re-upload it as a base for new designs. This workaround works, but it’s inefficient.

💡 Ideally, users should be able to save an AI-generated mockup directly as an online template. Once the print area is defined, that setup should be stored in the library and reopened anytime without downloading, re-uploading, and redefining the area again.
Right now, this loop makes the workflow unnecessarily complicated and breaks creative momentum.

Color control and brand features:
Recoloring clothing sometimes affects other image areas (like hair). On the positive side, the ability to predefine brand colors for bulk generations is a great idea — it keeps color tones consistent across multiple products and feels well-designed.

Brand identity and consistency:
There’s no option yet to define recurring models, styles, or accessories for a consistent brand identity, something Etsy sellers would strongly benefit from.

Usability and learning curve:
It’s possible that some functions exist that I haven’t found yet, since I only tested the tool briefly. But if that’s the case, the UI simply isn’t intuitive enough. More in-app guidance or example workflows would help new users a lot.

Other features (not rated):
I haven’t tested the API integration or the Etsy connection in detail, so those parts aren’t reflected in my rating.

Final thoughts:
Dynamic Mockups has potential, but I’m unsure whether the developers will keep pushing updates. The public roadmap looks rather quiet, and I honestly hope they’ll continue improving the UI and especially the AI-template workflow. Otherwise, smarter image AIs could soon overtake what this tool offers.

For me, it currently delivers limited value compared to what I expected, so I’d rate it 3 Tacos for now.
If AI-generated templates can soon be saved and reused directly online, I’d gladly raise that to more Tacos, because that’s exactly the feature that would make this platform stand out long-term.
