I purchased the app because I'm on a lookout for a Facebook Messenger app so my site visitors can chat with me instead of filling out the form.

Had my eyes set on Re:Plain but Elfsight has the Facebook Messenger and more, so I went with this one.

I like how easy it is to build the widget from scratch. Very simple, although some people might want more flexibility on how they create their widgets. But you won't hear non-CSS people like me complain about this.

I also enjoy the fact that you can just copy and paste the code on your site. No need for a WordPress plugin that could bog down your site speed or leave room for vulnerabilities.

Another reason why I bought this is because of the reviews widgets. I am building an SaaS affiliate site and am planning to include reviews from G2 and others in my post to use as social proof and testimonials, which could increase conversions.

So why not 5 tacos?

For one, some of the widgets are too simplistic and basic. Designing and implementing them is one thing, but something's amiss with some of the widgets. For example, there is no email software integration with its pop-up forms. So, for the people who signed up to your form, you have to manually enter their emails into your list.

Regarding the reviews widget, all users answers end with the sentence "Review collected by and hosted on G2.com." There's no way to remove them. From a visitor's standpoint, it looks ridiculous.

Finally, and this isn't a gripe, but there's no access to new widgets. All of the widgets look good, but I don't have use for all of them, And if in case Elfsight launches another batch of widgets that I might like, then I don't have access to them and I'm stuck with the ones I'm not using. Maybe there's a compromise for this moving forward?

For now, the positive outweighs the negatives for me. This is a pretty okay tool and even better if you're in the e-commerce space.
