Many may not be familiar with self-hosted email solutions, it has been not that accessible to the average user.

I, on the other hand, have used almost every platform out there, and yes the current big names in that space are good, and some have some nice features, but they usually lack in areas such as a clunky interface or bloat that gets in the way of the core functionality.

Also many do not offer trigger-based automations to segment and respond.

I wasn't actively looking for a solution to do this but yesterday this popped up while searching for something else and I immediately grabbed it and spent some time setting up a new Ubuntu VPN and had the backed/frontend software running within an hour.

NOW the super powerful part lies within having an MTA packaged with this so that you can be your own sender, meaning you do not have to pay another SMTP like Amazon SES, Mailgun etc to do the sending. This is where it does get technical and is a bit beyond my current ability.

And here is where I am blown away. I emailed this morning to the developer saying how happy I was with the product and that I look forward to having some more step-by-step instructions, including videos to aid me in getting Velocity MTA set up.

Within a few hours, I got a nice response saying they did not expect so much interest in the self-hosted MTA as many take the simpler, albeit less powerful and autonomous route of using an outside SMTP, BUT that they will be adding these tutorials within the next few weeks.

I am very satisfied with the product design and function and even more pleased with the team behind it.
