Erxes Misses the Spot
This deal and product confuse me. It's pitched as a HubSpot alternative and while I can see where they're coming from, I'm not entirely sold that it is, but it has the markings of becoming a competitor.
I'll be honest though, the more and more time I spent inside the platform, the more bugs and nuances I encountered, so I'm a bit bewildered as to why the large companies on their landing page lean on this software when it seems unreliable and cumbersome - it results in more time wasting than it does productivity. It honestly feels like every action you take, there is some sort of glitch either holding you back or forces you to approach it in a different way...not great.
While at first I was impressed by the onboarding, I think it actually does the user a disservice in the way it's currently configured. The sidebar attempts to be clean and sleek and at first glance it is, but what I realized is that after I fumbled through the onboarding (which turned out to be a less than ideal experience as a whole) is that I actually have ZERO idea where anything lives now that I (half) set it up. Most of the time I am left scratching my head wondering how I get back to the thing I just did.
The thing that really bothers me the most about the platform (and something that is more or less integral to a CRM) is that Growth Hacking, Sales Pipeline, Task Management and Ticket Board are all the same thing with no clear defining differences in how they're organized, set up, or managed. EVERYTHING is a pipeline in Erxes, and maybe it's my lack of experience with super-powered CRMs (I love my Salesflare...), but it doesn't seem efficient and creates more confusion than clarity. Every one of the aforementioned have stages, 10%-[Buzzword]. It feels as though the bulk of the platform is just a series of re-skinned "features" over and over again. Nothing feels unique or novel.
Once I tried installing the script on my site to test it out, the real fun began. The pop-up was halfway up the page, despite the settings of it being a shoutbox. When I tried interacting with it, the form aspect displayed irregularly. Chat said I was away, though I am visiting the site well within the defined business hours. I couldn't see any Knowledge Base/FAQ in the widget.
When you want guidance on how to set things up after the initial, buggy onboarding, the documentation of their KB isn't that flushed out, so it's difficult finding your answer.
The last qualm (as part of this review at least) is the deal. I am still unsure about the deal structure. Paying $99 for 1 code that's very similar in many regards to their Free Forever Plan doesn't feel like a smart investment, even more so after the drop in SMS limit, at least for someone who doesn't have more than 200,000 contacts. I guess it is a long-term "investment" to stack this deal now as you grow, but based on what I'm seeing and experiencing, the more time I spend in the platform, the more and more disappointed I am for spending $99.
