I actually liked EventsFrame and purchased the lifetime deal for myself and for one of my clients who ended up using it frequently. So much for a lifetime deal. Very disappointed.
Many of us bought an EventsFrame code a few years ago. Recently, they announced that they're closing the platform that we had bought - and replacing it. Our accounts aren't being transferred. There's likely a business reason for this, yet it's not sitting well with me. Seems like a disappointing thing to do to people who bought into the platform.
Having used EventsFrame to begin the ticket selling process for my event in June, I have noticed a ton of glaring issues with the software and inconsistencies with marketing.
First of all, it technically does what it is supposed to. It makes a landing page for your tickets, lets attendees purchase their own tickets, and routes them to PayPal/Braintree/Stripe when it is time to pay. The support team has answered my requests quickly and their documentation needs some work but it has the basics.
I will now address the problems and claims of the software that alone are mild issues and together prevent this program from being amazing:
1. Design: The customer-facing UI and design look very old and dated. I am fine with the backend design - it just needs to work. But the front-facing pages should be as customizable and perfected as possible. They makes the claim that the pages are mobile-friendly, but just because it can scale doesnât mean that it looks good. There are issues with justification and formatting of text and buttons all over the place. While it is usable, it doesnât reflect very well on a business. The response from Support when asked if that could be fixed? âThat is not possible. Good luckâ 2. Branding: Simply put, it will not match your company. It feels as though someone wasnât thinking when they built the software. While it is nice to be able to add a header with my logo, I canât add my branding to the automated emails, ticket buying process, or the actual tickets themselves. Printed tickets have the EventsFrame logo on them, but your logo cannot be added at all. Everything is hosted on EventsFrame.com so it has their branding all over the place. If you visit an event page that has branding turned off, there is still the text âTicketing provided by EventsFrame.â When you click on the event organizers name, you are brought to another page with more blue branding and a large âPowered by EventsFrameâ logo that cannot be removed. Emails are sent with the name listed as âEventsFrameâ instead of the organizer name, and the footer says âno need to reply to this emailâ even though reply-to is set to the organizationâs support email. 3. Organization Branding: The event organizer should be able to be changed per event. Sometimes I might host an event as myself, sometimes as my business. Why can't I just change the name? I donât even need an âOrganizerâ about page. If you insist on hyperlinking it, why not just make it a mailto:? 4. Following the Terms: The terms of this deal stated that all future upgrades to EventsFrame would be included. For the first couple of months, they were. Custom colors arrived and were added to my account, and the new editor seems to work without any issues. However, reminder emails are only free for 30 days while they are in beta and then will have a charge. There will be no option to connect our own SMTP for this either. Why? This isn't "all future plan updates"...
