Updated Review

My long term results and updated review
I did a HUGE test with this on my sales page

2,000 paid conversions total and the page with Evidence consistently LOWERED sales by 5.8%
Also, development seems non-existent on this service since after the hype of the initial launch. You can see the lackluster amount of updates for yourself here: https://evidence.io/updates/

When you log in you can see they haven't made any feature "announcements" in over a year now.
Feels completely abandoned and the fact it's still offered on Appsumo for this long scares me even more.
I still give it 3 stars as it has boosted upsell take rate on those upsell pages and what is there does seem to work consistently!

I don't see this company being around long term though due to lack of development in a hugely competitive and already oversaturated space.

Hello again Sumo-ling!

First off, I appreciate you doing a second review. You were one of the first reviewers and it's good to see you still using the app after so long.

As you mentioned, using social proof is certainly going to increase your conversions just as it is with your upsell pages. The key is consistently testing new strategies for each type of page. We outline this in a strategy post on our blog. It's a fairly lengthy guide, so we included a downloadable ebook at the bottom. https://evidence.io/social-proof-campaign-strategy/

Regarding your comments about our product development being non-existent, that simply isn't true. Launching to the AppSumo community 15x our customer base really quickly. This has required a substantial amount of development to allow our app to scale properly. While a lot of software vendors quickly add new features (as we did in the beginning as well), that is also due to their app being a minimum-viable-product. Evidence was brought to AppSumo with a full set of features, as many sumo-lings have noted in our 50+ reviews. Not only are we actively working on Evidence, but we have also hired 3 new developers since launching.

Many AppSumo vendors are launching their first app, which is why you see some come and then end up shutting down. They don't have the marketing or operational experience to keep it moving forward. Not only is Evidence not our first app, but we also have 2 other very profitable apps that have tens of thousands of users (see parsey.com and graphly.io). While we'd love to commit 100% of our resources to Evidence, we still need to give some love to our other customers as well. We are actually rebuilding Parsey.com and preparing it to bring to AppSumo sometime in late 2020 or early 2021.

Lastly, you are correct that there are plenty of social proof tools in the market, but wrong that it's oversaturated. When you consider how many websites there are in that sell products or services, the social proof industry is very new. There are thousands of CRMs yet we still see sumo-lings buying random, half-built CRMs on AppSumo, right? Sure, we have competitors. The competition just confirms the market demand. The Evidence you see right now is not the Evidence you will see in 6-9 months. We're no strangers to entering and growing in a competitive market. We have quite a bit of confidence in the direction we are taking Evidence. Active customers will see some big additions in the next 4-6 weeks.

We appreciate you sticking with Evidence and hope that you will continue to test and try new strategies. Social proof is a proven marketing principle. But like any other marketing principle, each company/site needs to deploy it based on the strategy right for them. It takes time and strategy. I know you understand how to test pages, but I put together a post on using Google Optimize to test site widgets like Evidence: https://evidence.io/test-with-optimize/.
