Q: I am not a pro when it comes to images and wordpress.
I have a number of wordpress websites that have a lot of images already. I know it takes up a lot of space and also I'm not sure if there are different sizes made for each image i upload (I heard this is the case). I also heard there's something as regenerating image to save space or something.
Can this plugin help me? Is it a one click solution? What exactly can it do to help the above? Will it make sure nothing goes wrong to my wordpress site whatever it does to my images?

May 15, 2024A: Hello,
The nature of your question is a bit open-ended as you are looking for a solution, but I'm not certain that I clearly understand what problem you want to solve. There are two major functions of EWWW, our image optimization plugin: Compress API and Easy IO.
The Compress API function is made to optimize (compress) your local images in your media library (on your servers). When you run the bulk optimizer, it goes through all of your images (including any resizes which is those different sized images that WordPress and other plugins or themes generate) and compresses them, ideally making them smaller.
Easy IO is a CDN (Content Delivery Network) that takes copies of your images and serves them closer to your end users as your site is viewed, automatically optimizing the images. It doesn't touch your server or the images there, so it can be a safe way to improve your site without affecting anything on the back end.
Given those definitions, Easy IO would be a great one-click solution to improving your website and the images on that site as it is viewed (but again, doesn't touch anything locally). The Compress API function would be a great way to compress your local images, but it is a permanent change to those images (mostly) and can take a bit more time at least to accomplish all of them.
