Good, but does need improvement
I needed something that would be an alternative to Zoom. I hate the issues that keep popping up when it comes to Zoom, mainly the privacy issues. So EyesOn is what I had my eyes on ;-). EyesOn definitely is NOT Zoom, which is good, because you don't necessarily need an exact same tool. So let me break it down in the good and the bad.
THE BAD
To be honest, there are some things to improve - but, I have experienced that many tools that have a deal on AppSumo are very open to suggestions and requests from their users. So here's where I have run into:
- Lag: you will notice a lag for your own video. I hate lag when talking, it just distracts me and I really hope EyesOn will fix it. I know there are reasongs for it, but really, I have heard that everyone thinks it's annoying.
- No app: not really my personal issue, but a friend of mine didn't like having EyesOn in a browser because it was harder to switch between screens.
- Names of guests: funny names which can be fun, but it's not very professional. People will forget changing their names, so they will have fantasy names.
THE GOOD
There's a lot of good things too:
- Multiple rooms: you can create multiple rooms to receive your clients and other contacts.
- Recording option: You can record and download your sessions, awesome!
- Easy sharing: just go to your room and copy the link, share it and you're done. I don't know how it works, but the link won't work after the session has finished, so people cannot enter anymore when you have a new session.
Some things that I hope will eventually be added:
- Open room that people can always enter once they have the link (no expiration)
- Vanity URLs
All in all, this is so worth the investment. Just think of what you'd pay for a year of premium version of any other video conferencing software.
