Solves A Big Problem - Finding People Willing To Take Pictures With Products.
FOAP is pretty interesting, we have a mix of digital and physical products so I look forward to seeing how the process is moving forward but in essence, FOAP solves a big problem.
How do I find early adopters that are not just willing to try the product but actually take pictures and videos with it. 99% of the world is just made up of consumers. Find the 1% of the 1% that will make content with you is a challenge. So just on that part I would give it 5 tacos.
Now moving forward with the deal. It's only for the product sampling feature... which is fine for me. However we are limited to photo's only and the video features is blocked out. Bummer.
I full-stacked this and would really appreciate at least 1 video campaign/month with 3 videos, even if it's a token of goodwill for full stackers. As I grow and bring more customers to the platform, I would for sure starting paying the individual costs but right now 350 base cost per video campaign is a lot.
Again, I understand its a human labor problem, but that's worth a taco.

Hi Hari,
Thanks so much for the kind words - really appreciated :)
Yup - you have the perfect use case for our platform. Get in touch with me (matt@foap.com) and we can work out the best way for you to leverage the platform.
Not promising FREE video missions, as there are incremental creator costs there, but sure we can make something work :)
Just the perfect alternative for Stock Photos and Videos
We all see it on our Social Media, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Youtube -- user generated content is just the perfect media for your digital and social media marketing campaigns. Of course you can always run the campaign yourself, on your own website, social media especially if you have a huge number of "engaged" followers. But with the ever changing algorithm of Facebook and other platforms to make Brands pay more for organic reach, how do you host a successful photo or video campaign for your Brand (or clients), without spending a fortune just to execute the campaign?!
Here comes Foap to the scene!
If you ever wonder, just how Foap can work for your Brand or clients, then go check out their Customer Success page, or visit my article below: https://mysoftwareadviser.com/articles/foap-brands-review-crowdsourced-images-and-videos-your
Again the included credits here would be only for Product Sampling missions. If you want a generic mission, just pay a one time fee that I am sure is reasonable which helps Foap and the creators when you buy their content.
Not convinced yet? Foap has over 3M+ content creators at your disposal. (Read: Foap has the "assets" you need to reasonably run a photo and video campaign for peanuts)
However, there's still a gray area, what if the content creator who was sent the product sample does not submit any photo / video? Is he penalized for not doing the mission?
Overall, I see this as still a "fantastic deal" for Sumolings even at Starter Plan (Sumo) tier!
Cheers, Mike

Hi Mike,
Wow - thanks so much for this! This is very, very much appreciated!
To reciprocate the effort - we had come up with a way to give everyone, who bought the AppSumo LTD, access to Generic Missions, for FREE.
This is the ONLY short-term solution that we came up with, that could still work during the time of the deal and would allow you to RISK-FREE get a taste of content generated from...
Now I can say I will love if they bring generic missions but this platform is great for anyone in e-commerce or with e-commerce clients. I have a lot of e-commerce clients so to begin to offer them these campaigns is ideal for me. I also love the team, very responsive and open to hearing out our needs.
Don’t write this deal off, I really think they will be willing to make this ideal for most of us.

Generic missions - working on it. Will have an update next week.
Good product and great potential but instant refund
It pains me to do this as I do believe this product holds great potential, as the other review Eugen mentioned. As it stands right now, this product is an instant refund for me. I don't refund many deals.
In addition to the comments made by Eugen, here is my experience regarding the UX and onboarding process:
1: Stack and redeem 3 codes to explore full potential of the deal 2: Sign up. The onboarding process is gated, meaning that you must create a brand (brand name and logo) before you explore the additional features of the platform. There is no indication that this is irreversible. 3: I use a test brand to continue 4: I poke around a bit and then try to change the brand. I can't seem to find out how. 5: Reach out to support. Receive a very fast reply informing me that once a brand is set, it cannot be changed. (not the name of the brand, nor the image that you upload as a logo). Support is responsive, but cannot seem to understand why I might want to change the brand less than 12 hours after creating the account. 6: Realize there is a multi-brand upgrade for $290 within the platform. (this is a reasonable offer, but it should be disclosed beforehand)
Nope nope nope nope.
Here's the thing. Matt's replies to AS questions are genuinely helpful. It really does seem like Foap is trying to do the right thing here and listen to AS feedback. But as it stands right now, I have to refund.
I really think the Foap team needs to put some additional thought into what they are trying to accomplish with this AS deal. Who are they trying to attract? What is the long-term plan for the AS customers they onboard via this deal? Clarity. Business owners are attracted to clarity. I think part of the confusion in the "questions" area is that we can't very easily answer the following questions regarding this deal and Foap in general: What is it, how does it make my life better, and how do I use it?
I do wish Matt and the team good luck with this. I will be back if things are retooled and some clarity is provided, but for now, I must refund if only because I have a test brand that I'm locked into and I'm not willing to spend $290 to unlock additional brands at this point.

Hello SumoLing,
Sorry to hear this.
Must admit - we should have given you a chance to come back and correct the brand (just in case someone had made a mistake, or like You, decided to just set up a test brand account to get a feel for the platform). In case someone runs into this problem, please let us know directly, and we will be able to fix this with some hard-coding from the backend....
The idea behind Foap is great - post the campaign, add few sample images, and sit back and relax while you are receiving submissions from graphics designers.
Sadly, the deal here doesn't offer access to Foap, which would have been accomplished by generic missions, those are pay per use, and the allowance outlined in this deal cannot be used to post generic missions, purpose of which is to gather submissions, and download images based on your allowance.
The only thing that is available is Product Sampling, which is positioned as "Build an emotional connection with your audience and drive sales through authentic product oriented content. Sample your product and supercharge your engagement by posting content from your very own customers shot on brand."
Basically, product sampling is completely useless to most of Sumolings.
Till this issue is fixed, and Foap introduces generic missions (ability to post any campaign, and receive images for that campaign), max stack of FOAP goes into refund, and this review stays with 1 taco. If that is addressed - happy to revisit the review and the rating.
Matt, and if you respond and say that it is not what this deal is all about, then I would encourage you to recall what kind of features and functionality (generic campaigns) you have provided to AppSumo for testing.

Hi Eugen,
Firstly, truly sorry to hear you are disappointed. I had to divide the answer into two comments - please read both.
Putting myself in your shoes, I agree with you, generic missions are very useful for creating unique content for sumo-lings who do not have tangible products, are not e-commerce sellers, or are not agencies supporting e-commerce merchants.
