Good product and great potential but instant refund
It pains me to do this as I do believe this product holds great potential, as the other review Eugen mentioned. As it stands right now, this product is an instant refund for me. I don't refund many deals.
In addition to the comments made by Eugen, here is my experience regarding the UX and onboarding process:
1: Stack and redeem 3 codes to explore full potential of the deal
2: Sign up. The onboarding process is gated, meaning that you must create a brand (brand name and logo) before you explore the additional features of the platform. There is no indication that this is irreversible.
3: I use a test brand to continue
4: I poke around a bit and then try to change the brand. I can't seem to find out how.
5: Reach out to support. Receive a very fast reply informing me that once a brand is set, it cannot be changed. (not the name of the brand, nor the image that you upload as a logo). Support is responsive, but cannot seem to understand why I might want to change the brand less than 12 hours after creating the account.
6: Realize there is a multi-brand upgrade for $290 within the platform. (this is a reasonable offer, but it should be disclosed beforehand)
Nope nope nope nope.
Here's the thing. Matt's replies to AS questions are genuinely helpful. It really does seem like Foap is trying to do the right thing here and listen to AS feedback. But as it stands right now, I have to refund.
I really think the Foap team needs to put some additional thought into what they are trying to accomplish with this AS deal. Who are they trying to attract? What is the long-term plan for the AS customers they onboard via this deal? Clarity. Business owners are attracted to clarity. I think part of the confusion in the "questions" area is that we can't very easily answer the following questions regarding this deal and Foap in general: What is it, how does it make my life better, and how do I use it?
I do wish Matt and the team good luck with this. I will be back if things are retooled and some clarity is provided, but for now, I must refund if only because I have a test brand that I'm locked into and I'm not willing to spend $290 to unlock additional brands at this point.

May 9, 2024Hello SumoLing,
Sorry to hear this.
Must admit - we should have given you a chance to come back and correct the brand (just in case someone had made a mistake, or like You, decided to just set up a test brand account to get a feel for the platform). In case someone runs into this problem, please let us know directly, and we will be able to fix this with some hard-coding from the backend.
Going on the roadmap, ex. provide 2 - 3 attempts to edit brands so we cover for small mistakes, and some clear communication that the brand is very very important.
Of course, this comes late as you had already refunded your codes.
Nevertheless - happy to answer your other questions, as I agree, they are super important. And could provide some clarity.
Our Goal with AS deal, and the AppSumo community:
1. Provide an affordable solution for generating high-quality, unique content that is currently leveraged by medium and larger brands. A solution that would fit the pockets of the AS community marketing budgets and their content needs.
2. Onboard Sumolings as a kind of "product ambassador" representing entrepreneurs and SMBs in the long haul.
3. Listen. Understand all the pain points, and use cases, and provide affordable solutions for those needs in the future.
This is as simple as that, and we strongly encourage everyone that has joined Foap and run into problems to reach out to us - as we are happy to eliminate those blockers where we can.
Thanks for giving us a chance anyway :) Hopefully, our paths cross again in the future.
