Much More Than an RSS Reader — An indispensable tool for research

As someone who runs several blogs and regularly researches topics across different niches, I’ve been looking for tools that can simplify my research and help me stay on top of the latest happenings. Follow.it is exactly the kind of solution I’ve been searching for.

What I dig most about it is that Follow.it goes well beyond the capabilities of a traditional RSS reader. Sure, it brings updates from websites, blogs, and other sources into one convenient place, but the real attraction is how much pin-point control it gives you over the information you receive.

The filtering capabilities are incredible. Being able to narrow down updates by keywords, authors, tags, and even AI-powered filters is a huge advantage. Rather than drowning in hundreds of irrelevant articles, you can focus on the information that actually matters to you.

I also love the flexibility of the delivery options. Email digests, RSS, Telegram, and many other notification channels. It lets you decide how and when you receive your updates. That’s a really well-thought-out approach to a problem most content creators know all too well: information overload.

The AI summaries are another particularly appealing feature. For bloggers, marketers, and anyone who needs to keep track of developments across multiple industries, being able to quickly identify worthwhile content is a tremendous time-saver.

I’m also impressed by the broader monitoring possibilities, including YouTube channels and specialized alerts. These features make Follow.it feel more like a personal research and information-monitoring hub than just another feed reader.

If I could suggest one tiny improvement, it would be more advanced organization options, particularly folders and subfolders for managing feeds across different projects. That would make an already excellent platform even better.

To wrap up, Follow.it offers tremendous value to anyone who takes content discovery, research, or staying informed seriously. It’s an ambitious product with a genuinely useful collection of features.

Five tacos for a clever approach to taming my burgeoning information overload ;)

Update (Nov 4): Folders are now live as categories! You can sort your feeds by project and filter My News by category. Details: https://blog.follow.it/organize-your-feeds-into-categories/ This first version has no subfolders yet, so we’d love to hear how it works for you at help (at) follow (dot) it.
