Q: Is there a newsletter (create and send) function to any of the plans?
I'm considering the start 2 option as it ticks most of my needs. I'm also looking for a newsletter create and distribute function. Or, do I have to integrate it with Mailchimp, Mailerlite or another similar service?

Forento does not have any built in features for sending newsletters to your audience. You'll have to use an external service for this. Either, you can set it up as an automation using Zapier, or manually export your members list (with a single click) and import it into your email marketing tool of choice.
With that being said, there's an option to post in your community, and then check a box to notify all members by email. This will allow you to send blast messages to all community members via email, though it's not a traditional email newsletter builder of any sorts.
