Q: Why the Commission?

Why should we pay Forento commission when so many other AppSumo products don't take a dime after the sale, including course-making software and digital stores?

Do you promote our wares to earn the commission? If so, and you stimulate interest, of course, you should be paid. If you do so, where do you promote it? Where can we see you earning your commission for other vendors?

Thank you.

A: Hey warrendimartiniofficial,

That’s a great question, and we’ve thought carefully about this.

We’ve seen a number of other course platforms come and go. Many limit creators with restrictions like a maximum number of students, a cap on courses or products, or tight storage allowances. We didn’t want to build something that feels limiting.

Instead, we chose a small commission model (2–10% per sale) that makes the deal sustainable. This way we can keep offering unlimited students, unlimited courses, and generous functionality without overpromising and retracting later, which is unfortunately common in the lifetime deal space.

The commission also aligns us directly with your success. We only make money when you do. And if you prefer to skip commissions entirely, you can opt for the No Commission Add-on, which caps your cost at just $24/month, no matter how much you sell.

The commission is not tied to promotion. It exists to keep the platform sustainable while still giving you unlimited students, courses, and storage. Promotion is something you remain fully in control of, while the commission simply ensures we can continue to offer unlimited use at a fair cost.

Feel free to reach out through the live chat on our website if you have any other questions.
