Great value but lots of small issues
I'm not going to mention much about the benefits of FreshLMS as others have gone into far more detail already. Bottom line, this is a great deal for an LMS system, especially with them taking no payment fees. But the product is far from mature, as you'll see from the long list of cons I've found in just one evening of use.
Pros
Loads fast and moving between the different systems is snappy.
Setting up CNAME was easy, and Stripe/PayPal weren't difficult, especially with the help links right there.
The custom text area is very helpful for renaming things and adjusting default messages.
I like that you can minimize the sidebar so you have more room to work.
The company seems to be responsive, helpful, and quick to implement improvements.
Cons
Most of this is little stuff that adds up to an underwhelming experience. 4 and 7 are more major, and may lead to me returning Fresh LMS if they aren't corrected.
1. No guided system helping me get set up or telling me in which order to create things. I know enough to figure it out, but led to weird moments like seeing my new course set as "Free" because there was no flow toward choosing pricing options.
2. When adding photos and logo, the images are stretched in the preview within the interface - which makes it look like I uploaded the wrong size, even when I followed the guidelines. However, the images are correct on the actual course site.
3. The save button was hard to spot when editing the text field below an embedded video. Autosave would be preferred, and a large button at the bottom of the page was where I expected to save things. There should also be a notification when I navigate away from a page with unsaved changes.
4. The branding changes load AFTER the default. This is a HUGE issue, as clients see a flash of all the wrong photos, colors, and information before the correct ones load. It makes the whole experience feel cheap and cobbled together. (I do hear that they're letting us change the teal/green interface soon - thankfully, as it's not attractive, especially with the button on top.)
5. The error message for incorrect email format and too short of password while signing in should not come up before I've exited the form field. I've only typed one character - of course it's wrong! I'm not done yet!
6. It's not clear where the information I fill in within the backend goes on the front end - for example, who sees the "short description" on the pricing option? Where does it show up? With the landing page itself - it would be awesome to enter the fields where they are on the page - doesn't have to be WYSIWYG, but just set up the form to mimic the landing page.
7. I absolutely hate that the registration and the purchase are on two separate pages. No modern shopping carts do this because people are much more apt to leave before completely. They should create their new account (or sign in if they're a past customer) and make their purchase on one page.
