We plan to continue using Google Sheets as the primary data source, and we don't have plans to support external databases any time soon.

We are considering offering our own internal fully-managed SQL database option for users who need more scale than what Google Sheets can reasonably support, but we find that for most users sheets work perfectly for their cases.
