It works well for what I need
I've been using Tier 1 of Goose VPN for a few months now and, for what I need, it is perfect.
I only had one issue where I had too many cookies downloaded and too much cache bloat in my browser. Once I cleaned those out, the VPN went back to normal. So I don't think that was a Goose problem. Instead I goosed my browser and the VPN worked just fine. :)
Note, I am not a super tech or anything like that. I'm just a normal Internet user who wants basic masking of my IP at the times I feel I need it. And one who hates subscription models.
Maybe this software has limitations for high-end users, but for me, it checks all of the boxes. It's easy to use. It works most everywhere. I can turn it on and off with no hassles. And it doesn't nag me to death with notices and ads and things like that.
I suppose in the future, if I move into a high-end tech context, I can find VPN's that will do what I want. But what's wrong with having a basic tool (an inexpensive lifetime deal at that) and specialized tools? Isn't that the way it's supposed to be?
This is a basic tool and it is solid for that purpose.
For my profile of user, I can't recommend Goose VPN highly enough.
