Q: Acquisition
Hi, in Capterra some users report dissatisfaction with the frequent changes in pricing models and restrictions on the number of learners after Graphy's acquisition and that early adopters were left out in the acquisition. How can we know that you are not going to do the same after 1 year?

Apr 1, 2025A: When Spayee was first introduced in the Indian market, we offered Lifetime Deals (LTDs) as they aligned with our business model at that time. The original Spayee platform operated on a subscription model with limited features, which made LTDs financially sustainable due to its simplified architecture and predictable ongoing costs.
After Graphy's acquisition of Spayee, we evolved to a hybrid business model combining revenue-share and flat subscription components. As a lean team, maintaining multiple product versions became unsustainable, so we gradually migrated to the Graphy business model. Some LTD users chose to continue using the older version of the platform, which is why they don't have access to newer features that were developed for the integrated Graphy platform.
As we expanded to the US market, our business model further evolved. We now operate with two distinct models: our hybrid revenue-share plus subscription model in India, and a pure flat subscription model with no revenue sharing in the US. This transformation, while beneficial for many creators, significantly altered the economics that previously made lifetime deals viable.
Despite significant business changes, we've honored our commitment to Spayee LTD users for over 5 years - through the Graphy acquisition and later the Unacademy acquisition. This support timeline exceeds industry norms, where many acquired products either discontinue LTDs entirely or provide minimal support for much shorter periods.
While we can't offer new LTDs under our current business structure, we remain committed to:
1. Continuing support for existing LTD users, though with the understanding that newer features with ongoing costs may require additional fees
2. Improving transparency about what's included in legacy LTDs versus what's part of newer subscription tiers
3. Providing migration paths for LTD users who wish to upgrade to current subscription plans with special loyalty considerations
We appreciate the early support of our LTD customers, who played a crucial role in Spayee's initial success and growth. We understand the frustration when a product you've invested in changes, and we're committed to finding the balance between honoring past commitments while ensuring the sustainability of our platform for all users.
