Couldn't resist
I spent a week or so playing around with the free version, and just couldn't resist getting the lifetime deal. The free version is fine, but clearly if you are going to master a tool like this then it would be a shame not to have the who caboodle such as the unlimited workspaces. I have been skilled with spreadsheets since the 1980s (wow, how time flies), and created many sophisticated databases since the 1990s, although I am no genius programmer AT ALL. What I love about Grist is that it gives me database like functionality with a spreadsheet. This kind of hybrid is actually what I've been needing for a long time, as most of the things I need to do don't require a full-blown relational database structure, but at the same time they stretch spreadsheet features to the absolute limits and beyond, i.e. to the point where spreadsheets just can't cut it.
I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't take me too long to get to grips with Grist, although I'd gladly admit I am still learning every time I use it, but it is nice that many of the challenges I have had, have been easily overcome once I looked at the help-files, or watched a video or two.
I can already see me wanting to create (or recreate) all of my spreadsheet/database type stuff in Grist, so that everything is in one place, and I can see it being my go-to tool from this point on. It is already awesome, but hopefully, over the coming months and years, it will attract a good userbase and go from strength to strength.
