Q: Looks promising. Q: GDPR & versus Viloud
1. Is there full EU GDPR compliance including hosting on EU servers?
2. Why should I switch from viloud to Gumlet? Please sell it to me ;)

Thanks for checking out Gumlet.
[Updated answer]
1. Please note that GDPR does not cover videos. As they do not contain personal data that can help identify individuals. GDPR only covers the processing of personal data like name, email, and IP etc.
So by default, any videos uploaded to Gumlet are GDPR compliant.
Gumlet's video analytics feature, which may capture such data, can be turned off to be fully GDPR compliant.
As we currently do not provide an EU data localisation option for data.
2. Honestly, if your requirement is a Linear or Fast channel, Gumlet is not good for you. We specialise in VOD. And our focus is and will remain towards video hosting. We won't get into the full SaaS online channel side of things.
Best,
Divyesh
Me too want to know if Gumlet now offers full GDPR-compliant hosting for EU users (including storage and data processing fully within the EU). Thanks
Sure, I have updated my original answer.
Dear Divyesh. Thanks to your clarification on GDPR. However, I think it needs to comply with GDPR when we want to use dynamic watermarks (showing for example user's email) in our videos to prevent fraudulent screen recordings. Am I wrong? Could you please elaborate on that?
When using a dynamic watermark, we do not record the user's IP on the server. It is detected locally on the device and displayed.
Without guaranteed EU-only storage/CDN, GDPR compliance is not ensured, since IPs are processed via AWS outside the EU. This is a critical issue.
Is EU-only data localisation planned?
This unanswered point is a decision stopper for me, with Black Friday ending soon.
Unfortunately, many put the European GDPR in the background, along with all its good data protection rules for users (which will then be required), effectively excluding themselves from a large part of the market.
Sorry, EU-only data localisation is not planned currently.
