I found Gumlet while I was actively looking for a way out of Vimeo since it became too complicated and pricey.
I'm a filmmaker and needed a platform that matches Vimeo's high-tier features. Gumlet covers all the essentials that Vimeo high tier plans offer, and even more.
What I really like:
A clean, professional video player
No gimmicks, no forced branding, and no social platform vibe. It feels like a proper professional tool, with a clear identity.
Excellent streaming quality and performance
Playback is extremely fast, adaptive, and reliable. Videos load quickly and play smoothly, even on slow connections.
Color looks right:
This is a big one for me. Gumlet respects proper video playback, and the image feels accurate and consistent.
Privacy and control:
You can decide who sees your videos, your playlists, or your channels; heck, you can even geofence your content.
Feature parity with Vimeo:
Custom embeds and player customization, adaptive streaming, privacy settings, analytics, and solid video library organization.
Simple, modern UI:
Everything is straightforward and where you expect it to be.
Why I recommend it over Vimeo:
Vimeo has slowly drifted away from creatives and toward enterprise pricing, mutating the platform into something no one knows what it is anymore. Gumlet feels much simpler yet offers all the bells and whistles of Vimeo, at least for me. It is not perfect, room for enhancement is always needed, one of the things that I wanted to write them about was the ability to organize the order of the videos in a playlist, and to my surprise, I noticed that they introduced it today :)
Their support is helpful and reasonably fast; they provided detailed guidance when resolving coding issues (I needed help embedding videos in a specific way on my personal website).
Their only downside that needs to be tackled asap is hosting a Gumlet video link on a third-party website. Most of the website builders, or portfolio websites, offer mostly a Vimeo or a YouTube link embbeds. The only solution for me was to use HTML code.

Final verdict:
I've been using it for around 3 months now, and I can say that I am very satisfied and arguably the best investment I made this year.

I'm extremely disappointed with the support that Gumlet provides. It takes days for them to reply to even the most simple and straightforward request.

The platform isn't the most intuitive. But it functions well. Videos load quickly. The channel function is great. Okay customisations with the player.

The poor support is infuriating, though.

I bought tier 6 .
I will be refunding this. I'm giving it an hour to upload the vid clip and thats it.

Constructive Criticisms
• Interface & Learning Curve: Reports describe the dashboard as not very intuitive, requiring a couple of hours to get used to it and some hidden settings 13.
• Feature Gaps: Some advanced functionality is locked behind certain AppSumo tiers (e.g., 4K support only in top tier) 53.
• Occasional Support Frustrations: A few users noted slow support responses (e.g., 10 hours for initial reply) and plugin conflicts, such as issues with Divi builder 67.

Was on the fence about buying this software, but ended up buying the highest tier after testing it out and realising the potential it will have for me to use on on websites I create for clients that are video heavy. Very easy to set up and easy to use.

Now hoping they bring back to Gumlet Image deal!
