Real savings on Codex, and an honest founder
I build a client management system with Codex on a ChatGPT Plus plan and was hitting the usage limit about twice a day. That is why I bought Headroom.
After a few days the dashboard shows 5.2M input tokens saved in total. Today alone it saved 952K, a 65% cut on input. It is still early to say exactly how much later I hit the limit, but the numbers are moving in the right direction and I changed nothing in how I work.
Setup on Windows was simple: install, turn on the Codex connector, done.
Two things worth knowing before you buy:
The compression does not work in the Code tab of the Claude desktop app. I asked before buying and the founder told me so directly, the same day, instead of just saying "yes, it works". I respect that a lot.
Even so, the one-click add-ons (Caveman, RTK, MarkItDown) do work for me inside Claude desktop, so I still get shorter replies and lighter command output there.
For $29 lifetime on the Plus tier, it is an easy call if you live inside Codex or the Claude Code CLI. If you only use Claude through the desktop app, know that you get the add-ons, not the main compression.

Oct 7, 2026Thanks a lot for this! 952K saved in one day is great to see. I'd love to hear in a week or two how much later you're hitting the Codex limit. And thanks for the kind words about the honest answer. I'd rather lose a sale than have someone buy something that doesn't fit how they work :-)
