Reduces Token Usage with Codex
I am a hobbyist developer working in my home lab environment. I use OpenAI Codex as my primary coding assistant with VS Code as my IDE.
I have been using this tool for approximately three weeks. The Headroom interface indicates a substantial reduction in tokens, with a total of 26.2 million tokens reported so far. This is on top of the reductions received from Vexp (A context manangement tool I discovered on App Sumo). Vexp and Headroom work great together.
I have installed Serena, Chisle, Codebase Memory, and RTK addons using Headroom. There was some post-installation tuning of my AGENTS.md file to use the tools in the proper order. This is a nice feature of the tool, and I hope more become available in the future.
I have worked with support on multiple occasions to resolve issues, and the responses are fast and thorough.
Highly recommended tool for those using AI coding agents.

Oct 13, 2026Thanks, Aaron!
15.5M tokens in two weeks of Codex is a great result and it's good to get more confirmation that the app stacks well with Vexp :-)
Thanks also for the add-on feedback. If you remember which tool-order changes you made to AGENTS.md, please send them over; setup should handle that for you. Suggestions for which add-ons to include next are of course welcome too :-)
