5 minutes to create a community. Really?

Really that what it took me to figure out how to create a community using Heartbeat.chat.

Have been looking for community tool and finally found what I needed.
I have tried pensil, ukki, kommunity and some others.
Some are to basic and not customizable, some are to much customizable and need more tech skills, some are just not a fit for my use case.

As a mentor, I needed tool to manage my students and later members of my community.

So what I do. I have 2 educational programs.
Each programs has groups of 5 students.
Each group has dedicated video lessons and zoom call recordings.

I was using video hosting for videos.
Telegram for chat and homework.
Zoom for calls.

Well it’s manageable during studies.
But the process to communicate with students after they finish whole program was nightmare. I needed to write each group separately to notify about news I had.
Or I need to ask them to sign up for the main channel in telegram for new and announcements.

But telegram is too crowded so I needed something I can manage.

Now Heartbeat will do all of that ☝️ for me:

1. All students will be in one place. Communicate after they are done with the program.

2. I can create group “Program 1” and subgroups under “Program 1”.
Each subgroup (5 people) will have dedicated space to talk and study video lessons and watch zoom calls.
I will be able to notify All “Program 1” students in one click.
And also any subgroup under “Program 1”. It’s very useful for my case.

Each group has different levels of knowledge and experience. Thats why I need them to be separated.

3. Also will be a free channel as lead generation. Will post goodies in there.

4. Events.
I can schedule events for groups and subgroups separately. Very helpful for lesson scheduling.
Sometimes students have requests that can be solved over voice calls. Others can participate or listen and learn. Notifications about live voice chat will be sent automatically. No need to notify in telegram channel. Of cause it can be done in telegram too. But telegram is very crowded and often people miss the notification.

5. What I love the most is simplicity of the invitation and sign up process. Native mobile apps for ios and android. And also desktop app.
As my students not tech savvy, it’s very important for me to use simple tools.

Thank you Murtaza for giving good practices to manage my groups on our orientation call yesterday.
Very helpful tips to implement.
