I jumped on Heartbeat after testing out a friend's community for a day. I am impressed by the ease of setting up the community - the ability to get started, import a previous CIrcle community and the breadth of information organization is awesome.

A few things that irk me - you can't upload videos into the Doc section. You can on threads and DMs but not in the Docs where it makes sense to have videos. You can embed from YouTube, Vimeo and Loom.

They have a code block option but it ignores even simple iframes for slideshares and website pages and forms.

There wasn't a Heartbeat community of their own that I could land in and get support and meet other community leaders.

Their roadmap wasn't easily found. And their Notion help docs on importing the Circle community is blank.

They have a help Intercom within the app but they don't see them or respond to them. I got an initial response last Saturday but then they have ignored all other questions so if you need help - you just have to test around and figure it out yourself. I suspect they didn't anticipate the Appsumo excitement.

The iOS and Desktop app are beautifully designed. Like all communities, the logo and branding is limited. I need to figure out a better logo for these apps because you can't see it at all.

The onboarding and Kickstart is great for setting up your community but telling me over a month how to use the app is useless. I set up my community in a day and now the emails bug me because I am worried I am missing something. I want to set up a customized Kickstart for my members but can't see if that's possible.

The events are great - if your members have Google mails when they register it will automatically add the events to their calendar. I had to give mine a heads up for the all-day recurring events because it could block out their calendars as busy but that's ok too.

Love the ease of creating external paid events on the app for advertising to people who aren't members.

The ability to create unlimited groups and cohorts is amazing for tracking engagement. The analytics are ok - I wish there was more I could do to welcome new members - like a splash screen new members see but goes away and then older members see a different screen.

Love the questions you can make members answer upon registration. Gets their first post done and you can customize which answers stay on their profile. For folks who want to add pronouns I just made it an option first question and then made it add to their profile.

The audio/video live rooms are amazing and I can't wait to host sessions and get togethers with my community.

Overall I am in love and have recommended this to a lot of people - I know 10+ who have already bought the deal. I hope they figure out their customer service response times and figure out the video/code embed soon as it's a bit of drag and could be a hard no for some folks.

Great deal - highly recommend. Let's get them support and some funding!
