Q: Adding captions or live transcription?
I was looking for information on if live captions for accessibility are included and the accessibility info in the knowledge base seems to suggest that, no, they are not. We work with people with a sound processing disorder and this is a must-have feature [and making everyone use Chrome for the captioning in that browser isn't always an option; people need to be able to use the browser they have]. Any plans to add automatic captions/transcription soon? Love the product otherwise!

May 10, 2025A: Hey, great question, and thanks for reaching out.
We do have the ability to add manual transcriptions, i.e., to upload transcriptions against a replay so that they are available for people afterward. However, because with HeySummit you need to select a third-party broadcasting tool for either the live broadcasting or the replay (such as YouTube, Vimeo, StreamYard, or Zoom), it means that any live transcriptions would be the responsibility of that third-party tool.
The good news is that there will certainly be integrations available with HeySummit that will provide live transcriptions. I don't know exactly which ones will do that, but there will certainly be some.
Thinking more medium to longer term, we are considering building our own streaming technology so that you'll be able to either use a third-party tool (as you currently can) or use our own streaming studio. This means that there is a very good chance that in the future we will provide our own live transcription capability.
For now though, since we are dependent on third parties to provide the streaming or replay of pre-recorded videos, it is up to them to provide the live transcriptions or not.
I hope that helps. I appreciate it's getting into the weeds a little bit. If you have any further questions or if I can be helpful in any other way, just let me know.
Thanks for the prompt reply. Maybe I am confused. Do we need to provide a meeting platform like Zoom or Vimeo or something to manage the actual video part of this and HeySummit does everything else [ticketing, emails, etc? I know some online conference platforms are like that. They do everything but the actual online video part. The Appsumo video says no additional tools are needed on this.
Hey there. That's pretty much it. You pick and choose the broadcast providers that you want to use and pair them with your HeySummit account.
We support a wide range of providers, ranging from webinar platforms like Zoom to live streaming platforms like OneStream, StreamYard, Vimeo Live, and others. Additionally, we support normal pre-recorded video platforms like Wistia, Vimeo, and YouTube etc.
