Q: Can I run the webinar on HeySummit or do I need to purchase a Zoom plan to use it?

I'm not sure if I can host the webinars within the HeySummit platform without any other platform actually hosting it. I saw you can host over 7000 people in a single webinar, yet, to get that on Zoom you'd have to pay hundreds of dollars per month. Basically my question is, do I need to purchase an external Zoom, Goto Webinar or other license to host it and this platform is an additional tool to manage those events? Or can I actually run everything from HeySummit itself?

Hope I was clear, thanks!

A: Hey Aaron,

Thanks for the question. That's absolutely clear :)

The short answer is yes, you do need to decide which third-party tool you want to use to deliver your broadcast within your event. This could be a pre-recorded tool like Wistia or Vimeo, a live streaming tool such as YouTube Live or StreamYard, or a full-blown webinar platform that we link out to, such as GoToWebinar or Zoom.

Which one you choose is entirely up to you based on what you're already using and the type of event you want to deliver. There are, of course, expensive options and completely free options. It just depends on what you're looking to achieve.

For example, if you knew you were going to have 7,000 attendees, I would probably not recommend using the Zoom webinar route because it would cost quite a bit. Instead, I'd suggest using something free/low cost like StreamYard and having that integrated into your HeySummit event.

There are many different ways to do it; it just depends on what you're trying to achieve. I'm more than happy to delve into any of what I've just said in a bit more detail if that would be helpful. If you have any further questions, just let me know.

In fact, if you're around and want to see HeySummit in action and how third party integrations work, i'm going live on a public webinar in about 10 minutes! You can join over at https://start.heysummit.com. There will be a replay if you're unable to watch live, or alternatively, join us the same time next week (as I typically run the weekly).

Thanks again,

Ben
