Q: Does HeySummit collect and pay sales tax?
When HeySummit collects payments, does it also manage the sales tax piece of things so that I don't have to?

Thanks for the question. Effectively, you're connecting your own Stripe account and/or PayPal account, so the majority of your financial data will be stored in your own account. To that extent, HeySummit isn't doing the heavy lifting regarding tax.
However, you can tick a box in your HeySummit event to specify that tax is included in the ticket prices, and then you can specify the tax rate you want to apply. What we will do then in the checkout is reverse engineer the ticket price to show what the tax is.
For example, if you say that tax should be included, with a tax rate of 20% and a ticket price of $100, we will show a breakdown in the checkout summary and invoices to indicate that the ticket was essentially $80 with $20 VAT, giving a total of $100. So you'll always end up with the correct total; we just help you provide the breakdown.
We partially help you with the tax, but most of it will always be done in your own Stripe or PayPal account.
I hope that helps clarify, but just let me know if there's anything else I can assist with.
This helps. Thanks!
