Q: How Can I Trust You?

I'm interested in purchasing this deal, but I've seen instances where previous AppSumo lifetime deals have had their terms or features changed after purchase—sometimes leaving LTD buyers with fewer benefits than new subscription customers.

Could AppSumo and the partner please clarify:
What steps will you take to ensure that lifetime deal purchasers receive all the features and updates promised at the time of purchase, even if plan names or structures change in the future?

What protections are in place to prevent any retroactive changes that could reduce or restrict the benefits for LTD users compared to new subscribers?

Will you provide a public statement on the product page explaining how AppSumo enforces lifetime deal terms for both current and future SaaS deals?

I'm also not a newbie, but this is where we are with appsumo?

A: Hey, thanks for reaching out and for the question. This is an interesting question and one that I think can be approached in a couple of different ways. First, I'd encourage you to read reviews and comments as this covers a lot about who we are as a company, and how we like to do things. Integrity sits at the core of almost everything we do.

Secondly and perhaps most importantly, HeySummit has been in business for coming up to 7 years. Our first AppSumo deal was done in 2019 and so we have a track record of looking after our AppSumo customers.

On a more technical / practical level - what i can tell you is that this AppSumo deal is linked to our Growth plan and as such, any changes we make to that plan you'll benefit from. That means that if we add a new feature and make it available on that public Growth plan, then you and all other AppSumo customers will get the benefit of that new feature as well.

Appreciate there's only so much one can say on a topic like this - ultimately, this is a decision you will need to make based on the quality of our product, how we conduct ourselves and our track record.

Hope the above helps but if you have any further questions, just let me know.

Hey Ben,
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I’ve bought Appsumo SaaS deals where “plan linking” was changed later, leaving LTD buyers with less value than new subscribers, so these points are important for making an informed decision. Contractually with appsumo, could you change the terms and just not include me in any new feature updates?

I’d need to have the contract looked at to be sure, but our view is simple. AppSumo customers get updates in line with our Growth plan (irrespective of whether its name is changed or not). If that public plan is updated, AppSumo plans will revive that update too.

Ben,
Check your contact.
Appsumo seems to be able to change the rule of a deal post purchase and I'm not sure how or why. Trying to get to the bottom of the issues.

Basically, don't trust what we are selling you.

It seems some companies can change terms and refuse feature updates.Basically downgrade plans after the fact. Bad for everyone except Appsumo it seems.

I totally get your concerns but I’m not going to start changing contracts with AppSumo.

@pintofoptimism Totally get where you are coming from and have very little if any trust for Appsumo as a brand. However, Ben shows nothing but integrity. Do check out the reviews. I purchased a few weeks ago & since then, there have been multiple updates rolled out, changes made + bugs squashes based on feedback + they moved advanced ticketing from Success plan to Growth so we benefit.
