Q: long-term use?
I have purchased HeySummit. But I see on social media, complaints about unused accounts being terminated. Could you go on record what the policy is for accounts that are seldom used?
I don't expect to be continuously doing summits. Only occasionally for me... Thank you

May 19, 2025A: Hey @SumoLee. I really appreciate you reaching out and asking this question. I'll try to be as thorough as possible in case anyone else has a similar question and sees this in the list.
Essentially, we do have automated systems that detect inactive and closed accounts. Accounts will be picked up by this system if one of the following is true:
1. The user started a trial but never converted.
2. The user had a paid subscription with us but cancelled the subscription at some point in the future.
3. The user had a paid subscription but failed to pay at some point, and as such, the subscription fell into a 'past due' or 'unpaid' status.
If either of the three above conditions is true AND if it has been in that state for three months or more, we start an email sequence to notify the customer that in 30 days' time, unless they reactivate their account, their account will be automatically closed and their data deleted. They are sent two further emails during this 30-day period, with a final confirmation once the account has been closed if it reaches that state.
Note that we will never close active accounts (even if they have not be used or are dormant for a while).
We had a very small number of AppSumo customers who had, at some point, upgraded to a paid plan and then fell into arrears and so their accounts fell into a past due or unpaid state. When these customers reached out to us to explain that they had a previous AppSumo Lifetime Deal, we, of course, stopped the auto-closing process and reverted them back to their original AppSumo deal. Our automated systems have also been updated so that we no longer pick up false positives like this - i.e. AppSumo customers who are technically in arrears because they upgraded to a paid plan and then stopped paying, but have an underlying AppSumo plan.
Hope this provides the clarity you were after. I am more than happy to dig into further detail if needed.
All the best, and thanks again for raising this question.
Very helpful, thank you. Glad to hear you have improved your detection systems, and I hope this QA helps future visitors.
My pleasure, and I agree. It's always good to have these things outlined clearly and openly. Thanks for bringing it up.
