Q: What classifies as "private Event"

Hello there,

I saw n my dashboard, that private Events have an x on the T3 Appsumo Plan. Does that mean, that everyone can see and join my events?

My goal is to create evergreen webinars as leadmagnets. It would be bad if everyone can find them and join at any time.

A: Hi,

Thanks for reaching out.

By default, events created on HeySummit are potentially discoverable by search engines like Google. Obviously, in most cases, it can take a while for them to index them anyway, but in some cases you don't even want them to be searchable on search engines, and that's where the private event feature comes in. We'll basically block crawlers from accessing the website.

In either case, whether it's private or not, if anyone knows the URL or is passed on the URL of your event, they will of course be able to access it. So an event is never truly private in that sense.

Hope that helps clarify, but just let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello Ben, thank you for the quick answer.
If it is ust for the crawlers, that is fine. I was afraid it meant, that they didn't have to sign up for it and could just join. Thanks for clarifying :D

Ha, no, don't worry about that. Every event requires registration unless you explicitly specify that it's public. Then no registration is required at all, but that's quite an edge case and not relevant for most people.
