Disappointed 6 year customer. Poor customer service.

I have had 6 years with HeySummit and had very few events over those 6 years.

I took advantadge of an upgrade years ago and paid many hundreds of dollars since then in monthly fees to keep it active.

However between a bank account card change and medical issues, it lapsed for a month and they will not allow me to catch up the upgrade payments, because they "can't" because that "is no longer available".

Everyone knows the proper customer service answers are either they are not willing to or they are willing to. They "can't" is simply not true. The specific customer service person may not be able to, but HeySummit can do whatever they well please for whoever they well please. That's how customer service works.

It's an incredibly bad customer service position to persist from the position that you "can't" do something. It's a failing.

I cannot therefore recommend HeySummit, as they may fail you when you need them most.

Acknowledging that it is a "one-time deal" is easy. The irony is that the benefits of the upgrade was never actually used to my knowledge because the extra features gained did not apply to the few events I actually created over the years. It was simply a hedge, an investment. Yet it still remains, I did not cancel the upgrade, and due to the combination of bank card changes and illness the payment lapsed a bit. I offered to make the account right, and would have paid a late fee or whatever had there been one, but instead, the policy is to offer an upgrade for great features then rugpull at the earliest opportunity. Well, congratulations. You got your opportunity. *golf clap*.

Hi there - thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience. I’m really sorry to hear things haven’t been smooth, and I truly appreciate you being with us for so many years.

I’m not able to look up your account details from your AppSumo username, but I can share some context around the upgrade you mentioned. Our AppSumo-exclusive upgrades are priced as low as we can possibly make them, and part of how we’re able to offer them at that level is by limiting them to a single redemption. Once the plan lapses or is cancelled, the upgrade is automatically retired and can’t be reactivated.

You’re absolutely right that, in theory, we could manually override any price. The reason we don’t in these cases is fairness - many AppSumo customers over the years took up the deal under the clear understanding that it was a one-time offer, and we try to stay consistent with that promise for everyone.

I completely understand this doesn’t make your situation any easier, but I wanted to explain why that policy exists rather than simply saying we “can’t.”

Thanks again for your support over the years - it genuinely means a lot to us.
