Heyzine Flipbooks

Product details

Q: Hello - I read through the questions and you said Heyzine works great as an iframe and works on iOS.

It "works" (meaning the flipbook loads), but it is not responsive and is too small to read the text.

Here is a screenshot showing what it looks like when I view your demo link on my iPhone X:

https://snipboard.io/sgtind.jpg

The function to make the book large doesn't work. The only other option is +.

When I click + once, this is what it looks like:

https://snipboard.io/eHskL8.jpg

(Keep in mind, the screenshot looks big enough to read if you look at it on a computer - but compare the book text with the rest of the text and you will see it's way too small to read)!

If I click + again to try and make it larger so I can read it, the text does not fit in the iframe and I have to side scroll to read it:

I have tried horizontal view and it's even smaller.

This looks like a great deal for an app that has potential but this is far from ready for mobile users.

My questions are:

1. What are your plans to make Heyzine truly mobile (responsive) so the text in the book is large enough to read on a phone?

2. What options do you have to secure the book so people don't share it (if they have to pay for access)?

I look forward to your reply.

Best Regards!

A: Hello,

The demo embed you are checking on your screenshots is truly not responsive, but this is because the page is in the developers section and it's meant to be used as an example to see how the API works, so we tried to make the source code as simple as possible.

Please, open a full example on your mobile to see it's in fact responsive:
https://heyzine.com/flip-book/2598fbb5ac.html

It's not the same as an iframe so I talked with the team and we will set up a responsive example with an iframe as soon as possible.

It looks smaller on landscape because the flipbook you are checking is single page, so the height is bigger than the width and it will always look bigger with your device in portrait orientation. If you set it to double page from the heyzine editor it will be the other way around.

You have to think that we are talking about documents with a fixed aspect ratio, so you can't make it adapt to the different screen sizes the same way you can with a normal website.

About the text not fitting on the second zoom, I think it would be a nice feature we didn't notice. We will talk with the team to see if we can add it to the roadmap.

In any case I think you are right there is some room to improve the mobile experience, but we are not forgetting it and we are actively working on it :)

Hello, Albert. Thanks for the reply.

I tested the link on my iPhone X. While the flipbook is larger on the screen, the content is not readable:

When I click + to zoom in, it does not display all the content:

Once I click +, I can click the new + that appears on the book and it does zoom in more, but this makes reading very difficult.

I wish this worked better since most of my usage would be for mobile.

Wish you the best.

Well, it depends on the type of publication, font size, screen size among some other factors.
What do you think would help to improve the mobile experience?

Thank you for your feedback!
