Q: Hello, Assuming you sent an email to your newsletter/list offering this product through Appsumo to get the reviews.

Since one shows 3 products purchased and rest all show 1, dead giveaway, no way 9 of 9 immediate reviews are so few products purchased...

Just being real, a). you'll hopefully eventually have some real Sumolings that have bought 100+ if not 500+ deals review your course, until then, most won't buy. Is like social proof. Your reviews are not valid to 99% of us, we're internet marketers, agency owners, freelancers, small biz owners, investors, tech gurus, etc. b). no refund not going to go well. If you don't trust us to get inside and only refund if it's not worth the $139, then 95%+ of us aren't going to trust you and try your course...just saying...

Just a suggestion moving forward with your deal: Reduce the price in beginning so low that refund doesn't matter, let's say $29, get 10-20 legit Sumoling reviews from multiple deal purchasers, then bump it up to $59, get 10-20 more reviews, then bump it up to $99, etc. Quite honestly, I've bought 200 or so deals and I've never spent $139 on a course. I make courses and been in marketing 15 years, but for $29/59/99 I would give it a go once have reviews. For $29 I'll buy it non-refundable and be one of your first reviews ;-)

You can also allow refund. If not, then by default, it's not worth $139, if it was why not allow refund? Do you think we have no honor? That's part of the problem with this bad pricing and no re-fund conundrum. Either lower the price way down to get reviews or make it refundable. If not, see it all the time, month from now you'll have 2 more reviews. Drop the price or make refundable and Sumolings will start buying and reviewing, that simple ;-)

$139 no go, good luck! I've saved the deal in my pile to check twice a week in case you make a positive adjustment and try to get some real Sumoling reviews ;-)

A: Hey Gary - Super detailed review thank you! And nice to meet you. I'm actually totally cool with it being refundable, I just have never ever needed that before, we have a basically a non-existent chargeback rate. If you buy it and don't like it email me personally -> [email protected] or email me with what else you want in the course. Here to learn together.

That said... $29 no fing way homie :). Our courses sell for $600-1k so $139 is a steal. My experience, people DO NOT value what they don't pay for.

But I think we have 3-5 sumoling reviews in there now if you want to buy and hate it ping me and we'll refund you no problem.

Also - we'll just be on here for the next week or two then it'll go to $697 on my website at www.contrarianthink.co just FYI, so don't expect to see a lower price in weeks to come. But sending lots of love!!!

I absolutely agree with your detailed recommendation to the product owner, Gary. AppSumo is not the place to sell a course at $139, non-refundable, with reviews from people with only one or two purchases.

That is not enough social proof on this platform.

And, unfortunately, reading the owner's reaction to your post, she is more concerned with her product’s "perceived" value than the value it has to her buyers. I think it concerns me more than anything that she dismissed your wise words.

If I were in her shoes and I knew I had a fabulous product, I would offer it at a heavily discounted price (YOUR price points) AND a “refundable guarantee” in the body of the Deal Terms.

I’ve been screwed by non-refundable products so many times; the beauty of AppSumo is the refundable policy as much as I love the LTD side of it.

And price points, incrementing in set timelines after enough Sumo-lings have purchased and reviewed is absolutely the way to go.

Again, your price points are perfect.

But in the words of the product owner: “That said... $29 no fing way homie :). Our courses sell for $600-1k so $139 is a steal. My experience, people DO NOT value what they don't pay for.”

That’s not the right answer.

People DO value what you give them with open arms if it truly DOES have value. But, more importantly, if your product is THAT good, they will be your foot soldiers and champion your cause with a detailed review. AND you get their emails to add to your email list to dangle more of your products.

You gave excellent FREE advice, Gary. However, I’m disappointed the product owner doesn’t seem to want to take it. Just wow.

Be well,
Merri

Thanks Codie, makes sense.

I was throwing out the $29/59/99 price points as didn't assume at all you would respond by going with $29 after others had bought, but thought maybe $99 ;-)

Been checking out added reviews, some have bought 5-20 deals, no 100+, 500+ or 2,000+ sumolings yet, but eventually you'll get a couple and that should help.

Appreciate the offer to refund if really hate it. Agreed, hard to imagine hating it. Most of us in this space, problem is we're at 401 level on our gigs/specialty, 301 on some others, 201 and 101 on a bunch of others that we're still interested in. When we see the chance to make money off one of those lower level skills/hobbies, we get open to investing in some money making education...which you are definitely ALL ABOUT, so props!

That said, the dilemma in our case is that I'm 301 on email, 201 on newsletters, have done them for clients, written them, sub'd them out, but never made 6 or 7 figures on one of my own. Your training may take me to 401, I'm happy as heck, 301, I'm not refunding, but may think it should have sold for $29-99, but if it only repeats things I already know, then I wouldn't refund at $29 and would just call it a refresher, helping me focus on what's most important, but above $99 I might refund. I didn't hate it, it just didn't get me from half way between 201 and 301 to 301 or 401...

As me making a good buying decision, I'm looking to pay 20% of what I would pay elsewhere, you're selling for $597, $135 is little over 20% of that, so cool, we thinking alike :-) For $597, I'm looking strong 301 maybe 401 level on topic from training, so even though price is $139, same expectations right? At $197 retail, getting me to 301 be worth the spend and time, then at discount would be $39, I would have already bought.

Anyways, I love when a buyer gives me this level of transparent thinking/feedback, I signed up for your newsletter (you're looking very smart right now) and like it. I understand your value play and you wouldn't be you if I felt like you left a freak'g dollar on the table LOL! Personally, I would have went for $67 for a week or two and said up front that once 50 or 100 were sold, it would go to $97, so get it quick and leave a review, but then again, you're probably making twice as much as me, so I respect that $139 is how you roll, the value you place and feel and stand by. You wouldn't be you if you moved just cuz I said something, but I wouldn't be me to not say I thought I know Appsumo better than you and that you would have made more money doing it my way...you would have. Wish we had spoke over lunch before you launched this, cuz you're not a gal who lowers price once you pull the trigger and make the offer ;-)

Ok, I'll probably buy soon, I think you're the real deal, you look legit and I like your chutzpah...plus you gave me an out if I hate it or just don't learn anything worth $139, I'm at 95%!...and of course, if it's good/great, I'll absolutely leave you a review ;-)
