Q: Has it been revised since mid-2025 to cover the new AI disclosure rules and the ban on generic 'party supplies?
Since Etsy shifted to a mobile-first, behavior-based algorithm earlier this year, are the SEO and ranking strategies in this guide updated for the current system? Or does the book focus more on the keyword-heavy tactics from a few years ago?"

Edited Nov 25, 2025A: Hi James, thanks for the question! The guide was created based on my experience running an Etsy store a few years back. It doesnât focus on keyword-heavy tactics. Instead, it provides a holistic view on how to create listings that are genuinely helpful for buyers. I strongly believe that when you keep your ideal buyers in mind as you build your store and listings, Etsy will reward you with traffic and sales.
This goes back to your point about Etsyâs mobile-first, behavior-based algorithm. Letâs unpack that a bit. (1) Mobile-first means your store and listings need to be optimized for mobile such as using listing titles that display well on smaller screens and having high-quality images. On page 14, I included a helpful photo checklist for reference. On page 16, I cover how to write listing titles using both Etsyâs search data and Google Keyword Planner.
Behavior-based algorithm means Etsy now weighs post-click engagement metrics such as clicks, favorites, add-to-cart actions, dwell time, and conversions. This ties back to creating a helpful listing: a clear title that tells people exactly what you're selling, a description that answers common questions, and a variety of photos that give buyers a complete understanding of the product.
Most of the tactics in the ebook are foundational and still apply today. I wouldnât consider them âblack-hat hacks,â but rather evergreen strategies.
Let me know if you've more questions! Good luck!
