Great Collaborative Whiteboard!
This is a great product for collaboration. I have been a long time user of Miro and when I discovered HuddleIQ on AppSumo, I was overjoyed to have another option to test. Super easy to use and there are elements I like even better than Miro:
1) the cards are much better designed for collaboration and project management.
2) the "cells" is something I feel is unique to HuddleIQ. The auto-resizing of the cells as you bring items in is fantastic. And the available templates using these cells are great to just get that meeting going. No more need to resize shapes in a "frame" as you would have to do in Miro.
3) The comment feature is different from Miro and I wonder if it might be more helpful in organizing reviews for teams as it has a "topic" section.
As with anything application there are some challenges:
1) When creating a "new board" it takes a long time and I found myself wondering if there was an issue with the site. Don't worry give it a little while and something will happen.
2) One thing that I had trouble with was the "T" on the menu bar, which actually stands for "Title" and not "Text Box" like a lot of other applications. So, when i tried to use it like text and resize the object... I had trouble. Turns out (or at least I think this is what I was supposed to do π) I had to use the square object from the menu bar which allowed me to just start typing inside like on other applications; then make the border transparent. Still not sure if this is right, but was my work around.
3) Where are frames? Answer: Have to use the select tool and highlight what you want, then click on "slides" in the floating popup that presents. This took a while to figure it out and at first I thought there was no equivalent of Frames in the application. The UX for this feature is not as easy to use / as simple as Miro, but it is here and I am sure with time I might like it.
4) It may be a lack of knowledge, but the Export capabilities seem to only allow print to pdf functionality. Additionally, even if you make the slide an A4 size, it doesn't fit it to the page for printing to pdf. I would desire export function that enables the selection of specific slides that are represented in actual size when exported to jpg, PDF, etc and there should be a transparent background capability. A nice to have would be the ability to export to .PPT. I know it is still early days, so hopefully this feature will improve in the future.
As of right now it can't fully replace functions I use Miro for, but it comes pretty close. I think team collaboration and brainstorming might actually be better with HuddleIQ, depending on the video conferencing and other team work features. But taking this tool beyond that to use for diagraming or presentation development, this tool has some growth still.
With that said, this is an awesome product that offers features I have wished Miro would add and for that I am giving 5 Tacos. Worth purchasing.

May 9, 2024Hey matt98,
Thanks so much for your excellent and helpful review!
We spent a deal of time and still have improvements to make on "cells" and "containers", we saw this as vital for templates to work well, so I'm glad you like the features in this area and its benefits over the competition.
We had the idea of having tabbed comments do segmented discussion in its conception, but a more simplified version was put in place. Perhaps it's time to review that!
The time to create a new board has been an issue that we've been on quite a lot, and we've more than 2x the speed of it in the last couple of weeks, but we need to do more and are doing more. We'll likely be having a new release today, which should provide more speed gains in this area, but it won't stop there.
As for the "Title" object, its purpose is to give a quick method to add titles or text without a border (though you can add one if you like), and without worrying about the object's size, which is automatically determined by the amount of text entered. If you want to control the object's size, then you've correctly worked out that the way to do this is via a rectangle object. But seeing this wasn't ultimately clear is something we need to think about.
We've got a bit of feedback on slides similar to yours in that it's not obviously intuitive, so we are working on that. A simple way is to automatically create a slide outline on the board when you create a slide, but we thought the user should pinpoint the location of the slide and its size; getting the right balance is something we are working on.
In terms of export functions, that's on the roadmap. We've shortlisted 3 options with selection control and different export formats, so that's coming. I'll keep PPT in mind when we decide, especially for the sake of Slides, as that seems logical.
Diagramming with enhanced flowcharts, mindmaps, and flowcharts are all on the roadmap. So yes, I agree entirely. The product still needs growth, which will come in time.
We are currently a little behind that planned on the roadmap because the AppSumo community and much greater volume usage have thrown up challenges to address. We have been and will continue to do so, improving, including hiring more developers to fill in the shortcomings asap!
Kind Regards
