Q: On Trustpilot a user called Major Tom wrote the feedback below.

Can you answer his questions please? I believe they are fundamental for one to buy this deal, thanks.

"Icedrive looks great despite some issues with syncing and folder downloading. Interesting possibilities, clean and cool interface, the free 10 Gig, their overall pricing and the possibility to buy lifetime storage without the hassle of recurrent plans makes this a very attractive service.

But then, has anyone looked at their terms?
Read section 3: ....ID CLOUD SERVICES LTD may modify the Agreement which will become effective immediately upon its posting to the website. Your continued use of the website and any associated services indicates your acceptance of the Agreement and you agree to be bound by such modification or revisions….
Also section 6: … ID CLOUD SERVICES LTD may change, suspend or discontinue all or any aspect of the Services at any time, including the availability of any feature, database, or Content, without prior notice or liability....

No prior notice. Having read this, Icedrive, however good it may be or become, cannot be my primary backup or cloud service.
Unlike Dropbox or Onedrive, Icedrive only keeps a virtual image of your files on your computer, your data actually only reside on their server. The Icedrive cache only holds files you're currently working on. If you don't keep a backup on another drive or service, your files' safety is completely at Icedrive's discretion.

Reading on, their terms of service may give a somewhat paranoid impression.

Reading on section 9: …. Although ID CLOUD SERVICES LTD will not be liable for any losses you might suffer, you may be liable for the losses of ID CLOUD SERVICES LTD or others..
And what to think of this (section 17): …and you license to ID CLOUD SERVICES LTD all patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights in and to such Content for distribution on the Services pursuant to the Agreement....

Luckily, they seem to be aware that some confusion may arise and they are clear in one aspect:
....For clarity, you retain all of your ownership rights in your content...

Anyone else with second thoughts on this?
I still grant them 3 stars, they look great and I believe Icedrive may become one of the best services on the market, which I would like to purchase if they can fix the issues. "

A: Hi Leonardo,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The terms were drawn up on the recommendation of a legal adviser. We have re-read the terms ourselves and agree with you that section 17 is excessive so we have decided to remove it from our terms of service.

I am concerned about what the review mentioned, "Unlike Dropbox or Onedrive, Icedrive only keeps a virtual image of your files on your computer, your data actually only reside on their server. The Icedrive cache only holds files you're currently working on. If you don't keep a backup on another drive or service, your files' safety is completely at Icedrive's discretion."

Is that true? That our files are actually not on our computer system like dropbox?

LOL, not just section 17.. ALL of the points mentioned in the comment above are too much. And scary. The way you ignored the other points raised by the Sumo-ling above is even more scary...I will better stay away from such a company and happy to pay monthly for a trusted and accountable company's product. Thank you.

@Chris_Icedrive only addressed Section 17 from your post @leonardo.mattar7, this troubles me.

The aspect that attracts me the most to Icedrive is that they only place a virtual image on the host machine taking up little space, ie mobile, laptop or desktop, yet this is also the most troubling, because in Section 6 and comments about it, the above post states:

*****
Also section 6: … ID CLOUD SERVICES LTD may change, suspend or discontinue all or any aspect of the Services at any time, including the availability of any feature, database, or Content, without prior notice or liability....

So, without notice, my data can be gone in a moment, unless I keep another backup, which negates the reason I like Icedrive so much.

Icedrive, please address this point. Thank you.
