Great lifetime storage for the price. Room for improvement
Hi,
This is my first time posting a review on Appsumo. Thank you Icedrive for a great value for money deal.
Things that are wonderful:
1) Affordable lifetime cloud storage. This itself is amazing for the price.
2) Strong Encryption.
3) Windows and Android app! Many other cheap cloud storage providers don't provide these. Great job Icedrive.
4) The android app can upload a picture taken by phone's camera instantly.
5) Windows app shows up as a drive in My Computer. Thumbs up!.
6) The upload speed is good.
Things that can be improved:
1) The download startup is slow on Windows. Only in the beginning. Once it starts, the download speed becomes ok. Maybe because I am located in Malaysia.
2) Missing folder sync function on Windows and Android. On Android it only auto uploads photos and videos taken using camera. Please bring folder sync to both Windows and Android. (and maybe Mac, IOS too).
3) If I do a backup on Android app using "Backup Data", it only uploads the Camera, Documents/Download and Audio folders on my phone. There are no other folders or file types provided. It does not upload images/videos from Whatsapp folder or any other folders. Maybe it should provide all file types or folders and then ask the user which one that the users want to backup.
4) If I do a backup from Android, I think it would be better if the Icedrive app can create a specific folder for the device to backup. Now the app creates Camera, Documents and Audio folders on the root folder of Icedrive drive. This will be confusing if you have multiple devices.
5) Some bugs on the Windows and Android app. I submitted a ticket to them. Hopefully they can help me.
6) Please add integration to 3rd party applications like Google Drive etc.
I really hope Icedrive will improve over time. Their start looks good and they can really be a big player in cloud storage business in the future.

Thanks for excellent feedback!
I will address a few of your points below:
1) If your download is starting a little slow then gaining speed, that does sounds like a latency issue. As you say, you are in Malaysia, which our system would geo-locate you to our German data center. Our plan is to expand our reach and deploy servers in Singapore eventually :)
2) Folder sync is absolutely on the cards for the Windows app. Our team discussed Sync for Android right back when we we're creating our Android App. I'm not the Android developer myself, but I do remember the conclusion being something along the lines of due to the nature of Android, doing a sort of folder watch wouldn't be possible as there would need to be some kind of user input to trigger the app to start checking for changes i.e opening the app. Perhaps this has changed now though, we will take a look!
3) We're definitely going to look into the backup functionality in Android. There's a few discrepancies with the Android file system we have run into (directories can be different depending on the device), but in the meantime, we do allow the ability to upload entire folders at once (Use the + Action button) so this could be done that way!
