Could be interesting but...
This app does have an interesting take on tasks, in the sense that it allows for a more contextual approach (for instance, the fact that you can add a journal entry for each day). Displaying goals, habits and tasks on the dashboard is an interesting idea. For that, I give one star.
The interface is OK and rather pleasing, despite the fact that the dashboard is not customizable. For that I give 1 start too. Feeling generous.
But the task management itself is severely lacking compared to other tools such as Blue ( a $59 deal on AppSumo) or a trillion other.
- You can't link a task to another (dependency), for instance.
- Gantt charts ? No.
- Add a file (PDF, word, txt doc)? No.
- Task comments ? No.
- Adding a bunch of tasks is painful because you have to do it one by one : click on "+" button, fill in task title then optional fields, click on "save" button (no keyboard shortcut), repeat and rinse.
- The "personal assistant" described on their website as a feature "Get reminded of the proven two-minute rule when creating tasks" is basically just a text on top of each task : "2-minute rule: consider performing the task now if it needs less than two minutes!". That's not a feature. That's text.
-What they call "Time blocking" by "generating calendar events directly from tasks" is just the fact that when you set a date and time for a task, it will show up in the calendar. That's not time blocking. It's just a very basic normal feature that's been on, IDK, outlook and google calendar for over a decade.
The daily planner is just a calendar with tasks on it, like any other free app out there.
The goals tool is underwhelming : define a goal, define milestones and deadline.
The budget tool is irrelevant in this context and lacks so many features that it's not even worth mentioning (even it it does take some space on the dashboard)
The habit tracking is also very lacking.
So this is basically a to-do list with basic goals and basic habit tracking. It does not excel in any of those areas. It has no teamwork features. A reviewer wrote "better and more complete than other more expensive software" - this made me wonder if he has access to invisible features. In the questions someone mentioned Lunatask, an example of a product much, much better in every way than Illumtori.
Also, some basic features are "planned for 2025" according to the owner's responses to some questions. All right.
I can't see myself using it - there are free alternatives that are much better. Get it only if you like the UX and don't want to use another tool because it's a LTD. But in the very competitive landscape of task management software, I can't see this survive very long if they don't up their game in deep and major ways.
So this will be a refund for me.

Edited Jan 6, 2025Hi Vuk,
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We genuinely value all input, as it helps us improve Illumtori and better meet the needs of our users.
We understand that Illumtori might not have been the right tool for your specific workflow, and that’s perfectly okay. Our goal is to provide a simple, all-in-one productivity app that focuses on personal productivity, with an emphasis on ease of use and minimal setup.
While Illumtori doesn’t currently include advanced features like Gantt charts, task dependencies, or file attachments, it is designed for users who prioritize simplicity and a clutter-free experience. We aim to provide tools that are easy to pick up and use immediately without a steep learning curve; qualities some users have highlighted as Illumtori's strengths.
That said, your points about the areas where we can improve, such as task management workflows and feature depth, are well taken. We are actively working on enhancements and introducing new features in 2025, as outlined on our product roadmap.
We respect your decision and thank you again for trying Illumtori. If there’s anything else you’d like to share, or if you have further suggestions, feel free to reach out to us at support@beabealab.com.
