I refunded, but it's excellent at what it does.

The number of credits are far too limited to make this useful for me. I have 210 domains I'm building out with websites, so this lifetime deal isn't reasonable for my use case.

However, all the illustrations I asked it to create were stellar. Not one was unusable, nor did I have to recreate any. As long as you are very detailed in what you want in your illustrations, this tool will give it to you. If you don't have a high demand for genning illustrations each moth, then I think this is a perfect solution for you.

Really happy to hear such positive words about your experience with Illustrations AI. Thank You!

Happy to hear about your experience that the illustrations you generated was spot-on and usable without rework. That’s exactly the kind of consistency we aim for.

I understand your point about credits and volume. Our current lifetime plan is designed for creators with moderate illustration needs, and...

Credit allowance too limited

I was really excited about the prospect of generating SVGs, but the quality falls short. You often have to attempt multiple times to get a usable image, and the credit allowance is far too limited. It's disappointing.

On credits: this is a lifetime deal, so your monthly allowance will always reset and stay with you, forever. While retries can sometimes feel costly, the intent is to keep things fair and sustainable for all users over the long term.

On SVGs: you’re right, V1 has its limits. That’s exactly why we’re rolling out SVG v2, which will be layered, fully vectorized, and much higher quality. It’s already...

I’ve never left an AppSumo review—until now. This tool earned it.

Plenty of folks expect Pixar-level results on Day 1 because their plan says “75 images/month.” Reality check: you don’t buy a guitar on Monday and play Madison Square Garden on Friday. This is a live deal and a real tool. Give it a couple of weeks and you’ll ship illustrations you simply wouldn’t have made otherwise—consistently.

Here’s the part the maker oddly underplays: the real magic isn’t the text prompter—it’s the image transformer. Less “magic wand,” more turbocharged workbench. Built by cool people for cool people.

Why it clicks...
- Consistent style, zero drama: Your brand stays on-model—even if the source is a quick phone shot.
- Fast workflow: Upload ? lock your style ? done. From “meh” to “whoa” in minutes.
- Repeatable, not mystical: It’s craft, not coin-flip prompts.

Real-world use cases
* Example 1 — Photo ? Brand Illustration
Stage the scene with coworkers/friends, snap a pic, upload, pick the same style every time. Result: on-brand art, no stale stock vibe. From office lighting to spotlight.
BTW: Since my wife is way too photogenic (yep! *g*), I recruited a couple of coworkers who aren’t exactly cover models—and guess what, the illustrations still came out perfect! ;-)

* Example 2 — Your own character pack (feat. me, the Magic-GUI-Maker™)
Hire a small-time illustrator—say, me on a double espresso, your resident Magic-GUI-Maker™—to sketch ~30 basics. Upload, lock the style, done. From then on, revive those brand characters endlessly—no style breaks, no headaches.

*Example 3 — Inspired, not copied
Spot a graphic you like? Upload as reference and transform it into your look. Same vibe, original execution. “Familiar energy, yours for real.”

*Example 4 — Flip your brain to ON
Take a breath, actually follow tips 1–3, and watch the glow-up: photos turn into illustrations, and simple graphics become far more cohesive. It’s the “ohhhh” moment you’ll want to replay. ;-)

Fair wishlist (not deal breakers)
- Delete weak results: Not possible yet, so galleries can get crowded. Would be nice.
- More styles for photo uploads: A few styles didn’t latch onto my own images—bug/feature? Likely to get ironed out.
- Prompt on upload: A free instruction field right next to the image would speed iteration a lot.

Since that’s not built-in (yet), keep this tiny starter prompt handy:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----> Goal: Turn my upload into a consistent brand illustration.
-----> Style: [Your fixed style name]
-----> Focus: Clean lines, reduced brand color palette, no photo textures.
-----> Output: Half-body, neutral background, web-header friendly.

Bottom line
Once you “get” what’s happening here, the jaw drops on cue: photos become illustrations; rough sketches become consistent, on-brand assets. No hype—just that solid “aha, that’s how.” I don’t need illustrations daily, but when I do, this is the button I want. Also watching that upcoming video feature like a hawk.

AppSumo, thanks for putting up with picky customers—I know a guy. To the makers: keep that cool-for-cool vibe. Big on game-changers? Same here. Thx for your time!

Poor output and not enough credits

The app is very minimal which is great but my the app falls short due to not having enough designs.

Even with tier 2, there's just not enough credits. They will need to bump up all tiers to have enough credits to play around and test out the various designs. With tier 1 at 25 credits, I can pretty much produce the same designs for free with Gemini and ChatGPT (these tools are getting better every week).

I also tried the training feature and the output is still unpredictable which wasted tons of credits. The trained model should only be a reference for the design but it's re-using a lot of things for the output. For example, I want a diagram that has this text. It would end up using the same text from the trained model. I have to re-prompt and do over, and the output is still unsatisfactory.

There's just not enough credits overall in addition to poor outputs.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review 🙏 I can completely understand your frustration here. Let me address your points directly:

Credits & tiers: We hear you. 25 credits in Tier 1 can feel restrictive when you’re still testing styles or training. That’s why higher tiers give more room to explore, but we’ll keep reviewing credit allocations as models improve so you get...

Too few credits for too many mistakes; you have to pay double the price.

The idea is really great. I was put off by the price. Unfortunately, I have to say that I'm even more annoyed now that I've created 14 images with a standard style.

Seven of them were usable.

Two were people with three legs. And five were... I don't know what they were, but they were 0% what the selected style specified.

The product is too expensive and far too prone to errors. I would keep it if there were more credits. But this has too many bugs, and then I might as well use ChatGPT, which I have anyway, whether I regenerate 3 times or 2 times here. In addition, ChatGPT has an infinite number of images, and here there are 75, which are more like 36. I would not buy it again!

Hi - thank you for the honest feedback and I’m really sorry you had that frustrating experience. That’s not the outcome we want for anyone, especially when you’re investing credits and time.

A few things to explain and try right away (to get better results without wasting more credits):

Why this can happen: image generation is still probabilistic, sometimes poses or details render incorrectly...
