Excellent photo companion
I've used this upscaler recently to increase the size of some AI art, and wow, was I impressed with the result!
Here's where the tool shines:
• Bulk processing (up to 5 images right now, but hopefully that will increase with updates).
• Photo deletion within 12/24 hours for privacy
• Great output for digital painting, art, or photos*
• Of most other similar products in this category, this one upscales to the highest/largest maximum output size of 16,000 x 16,000.
Here's where it can improve:
• After logging in, the page where you process your upscales features a lot of content like photos, samples, videos, testimonials. For those who have paid or pay monthly, it would be great if this processing page was simplified and all the extra content was removed or moved to another section (such as a sample gallery, knowledge base, etc.) for a cleaner user experience.
• Don't know if this is possible, but it would be great to see a preview of the image either before processing, or immediately after processing so that users can see the before/after themselves on the screen.
I'm not a photographer, but having worked in the creative space for 20 years, I want to help set the expectation of what this tool can and can't do.
This tool is best used for images that have lots of intricate patterns or details that a person likely won't be looking at through a magnifying glass or up-close. It is not ideal for highly detailed real-life photography that is being viewed closely. Let me clarify: If you are upscaling a very low-res image, the image you upload is already compressed in some sort of lossy format. So when the upscaler increases the size of this image, it is adding space that has to be filled with pixels. It will do its very best to fill in the blank pixels with colors and textures that match the surrounding area. It does a VERY good job of this. But if you have a very small image with barely legible text in the background, the upscaler won't magically make that text more legible. It simply can't because the data doesn't exist in order to do that. What it will do is make the text LOOK like text when you are zoomed out or viewing from afar. But when you zoom into the text, it will just be scribbles. If you are upscaling an image that will be viewed from a distance (such as posters, murals, signage, etc), this is a great tool to use. But if you are using this tool to upscale an image that will be going into a fine art gallery (or other instances where people can get real close to the art), then this tool (or any other tool) likely isn't for you.
This is not a criticism of the tool, but just a reality of the limitations of technology and lossy, compressed image formats.
P.S. The tool was previously free with monthly limits, but the team recently introduced a paid subscription model to ensure the future viability of the tool. Jump on this deal before it's too late!
