Q: Toll-Free Number Eligibility & Credit Conversion for International SMS
Hi, I have a few questions regarding the toll-free numbers and SMS pricing:
1. The deal includes toll-free numbers for the USA and Canada. Does the user (or the business) need to be a resident or registered entity in those countries to obtain a toll-free number?
2. Do you offer toll-free or standard numbers in other countries, such as Australia, Germany, UK, Italy? If so, can they be added to the plan for an additional cost?
3. On your website, an SMS to Australia costs €0.02/msg, but I couldn’t find the pricing for Germany, Italy, UK.
- How do these int'l rates convert to the credits included in each tier? eg. assuming USA/Canada SMS cost 1credit/msg (is this correct?) how does that translate for countries where SMS costs €0.02 (AUS) or rates for Germany, UK, Italy, etc.?
Thanks in advance for the clarification!
Kind regards
Paul

Feb 27, 2025A: Hey Paul! 👋
Great questions! Let’s go through them one by one:
1️⃣ Toll-Free Number Eligibility
No, you don’t need to be a resident or a registered business in the USA or Canada to obtain a toll-free number. Even if you're an international company (e.g., a German company), you can register a Toll-Free Number (TFN) and use it to send messages to customers in the USA and Canada. ✅
2️⃣ Toll-Free or Standard Numbers in Other Countries
You don’t need a toll-free or standard number in countries like Australia, Germany, the UK, or Italy. Businesses there can simply choose their Alias (brand name) and send corporate SMS without any traffic registration. 💡 That said, we’re working on adding local numbers for 2-way messaging 🚀
3️⃣ International SMS Pricing & Balance Conversion
You can find the SMS pricing for all countries using our SMS Calculator here: 👉 https://www.instasent.com/pricing#sms-calculator
Unlike some platforms that use a credit-based system, we don’t use credits. Instead, each AppSumo plan comes with a fixed money balance, which you can use to send SMS worldwide based on the pricing listed in our calculator.
Here’s the balance included in each AppSumo tier: Tier 1: 3.80€ | Tier 2: 7.60€ | Tier 3: 13.30€ | Tier 4: 19.00€ | Tier 5: 23.80€
For example, if an SMS to Australia costs 0.02€ per message, you can calculate how many messages you can send based on your plan balance. The same applies to sending SMS to Germany, the UK, and Italy—all rates are transparent and available in our calculator. 🌍📲

Can you please further elaborate on this? I'm looking at the AS deal and each tier is in credits, starting with 200 credits for Tier 1. What I want to know is, how many monthly sms can I send within the US for 200 credits and the Tier 1 plan. What is a credit? Is it $1 dollar? If so, is it correct to assume that 200 credits will allow me to send 10,000 sms in the US per month?
I was/am a bit confused also. The maths suggests that a credit is EUR 1.9 cents (EUR 0.019) which will mean I need 1.05 credits to send an SMS to Australia (EUR 0.02 per SMS) and that is only if the system uses partial credits instead of rounding up to the next full credit in which case it would cost me two credits (EUR 0.038) to send an SMS to Australia
Hello Mark, I am sorry, please let me clear up the confusion about credits and SMS pricing!
Unlike some platforms that use a credit-based system, Instasent works with a fixed money balance. Each AppSumo plan includes a specific amount of balance, which you can use to send SMS worldwide.✅ For Tier 1: You get enough balance to send 200 SMS in the USA/Canada per month—no need to calculate credits.
Regarding Australia. @HedonistEntrepreneur
Paul, here’s the balance included in each AppSumo tier:
Tier 1: 3.80€ | Tier 2: 7.60€ | Tier 3: 13.30€ | Tier 4: 19.00€ | Tier 5: 23.80€ (We do not literally work with "credits"; that term is just a simplification for US/Canada based clients).
The SMS price in Australia: 0.0189€ /SMS in Tier 5.
Hope that helps!!
