InterNEXT might be more like it*
My fellow comrade-in-arms and I experienced the same issues.
Uploading was slow, and on web, there is no apparent place to monitor its progress either (at least in the app you get a minimal blue bar that progresses [would like % of upload though for reference]) and in most instances, it failed - both on web and mobile.
The interface is very minimal, for better or worse. Major Apple/iOS inspiration vibes, but I don't know if that's always best for these types of products. People want a bit more "oomph" and power under the hood - I'm just not seeing that here. Restricting number of times a link can be viewed is kind of nice, but that's also something that is commonly seen in competitors, so it's nothing inherently novel to outweigh the cons at the moment.
In mobile I could view a video and open it with the respective native app on my device, however, in the web experience, whenever you click on a file, it just downloads it - no way to preview it. The three dot menu is essentially meaningless and there are no custom right-click actions to empower the platform more.
The only redeeming quality is that the deal is pretty generous with the storage limits.
The asterisk in the title is contingent upon Internxt smoothing out the experience, because right now, it's EXTREMELY unreliable - some files make it, some don't, it's akin to the process of reproduction - that's not something that makes me feel comfortable, especially given the speeds of the uploads, you could sit there, staring at a pulsing blue circle in perpituity and ultimately have the upload fail. Awesome.
IF Internxt smooths out, AT LEAST, the uploading experience then this would go from a 2-taco deal to 3-taco (which is why I'm giving 3 off the bat, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt...for now). I still think there are too many features that consumers are accustomed to seeing that are just severly lacking here.
Also, I'm not sure if this was just a poor choice of wording, but this also makes me feel uneasy:
"đ Grab this very limited lifetime deal and make use of Internxt as it keeps growing throughout the next few years."
Only a FEW years...? What happens after that...?
Anyway. I would recommend folks to sit and wait to see if this smooths out and improves performance over the course of the deal. I wouldn't run out to buy this right now because it's just not a functioning product or in a place you could start migrating content over. From my testing, it's like playing Russian roulette, except you're the only one playing...

May 9, 2024Thanks a whole lot for your review. Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, etc. are all top-rated cloud storage providers. For far too long, these companies have abused their position and violated their usersâ privacy. Recent events have highlighted the problems that their business models can create. Protecting their usersâ privacy conflicts with their business model, which is to use your data in order to serve you targeted ads. Thatâs why these companies collect more data than what is actually needed.
These are all US-based companies. The United States (unlike Europe, Internxt is based), is known for its aggressive privacy violations. âThe Cloud Act, signed into law in March 2018, is an Act to provide trans-border access to communications data in law enforcement investigations. The Actâs history begins with a privacy dispute between Microsoft and the U.S. government, a case in US Supreme Court which concerns whether law enforcement can access communications content under current U.S. lawâ. These companies are also closed-source and donât feature client-side encryption.
On the other hand, we have services like Tresorit, pCloud, and ProtonDrive. Unlike traditional cloud storage providers (eg Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive), Tresorit, ProtonDrive, pCloud, and Internxt Drive encrypt your files not only in transit but also at rest, and only you have the decryption key of these. That means that your files are encrypted when stored and that only you can access your files.
Unlike Tresorit, ProtonDrive & co, however, Internxt Drive is open source and makes use of file distribution, meaning that files are fragmented, shards are encrypted, and no machine ever holds a whole file. This is a huge differentiator between Internxt Drive and Sync, pCloud, Tresorit, ProtonDrive, etc. Thanks to this unique architectural design, Internxt Drive praises to be the single most secure cloud storage service out there.
However, we aren't only building the world's most secure and private cloud storage service. We are also working on providing the very best user experience possible, built on top of our incredibly sophisticated cloud architecture. As you know, files uploaded on Internxt are completely secure and private. However, companies like Dropbox, Google, pCloud etc, have been around for a very long time, and thus their UX is very well optimized (features, speed, etc). We aren't only younger but are also dealing with something much more advanced. However, we are trying to do our best. We're progressively rolling out an increasing number of features to our apps and architecture.
We're financially sustainable and have closed a $1M seed round. We're growing fast and plan to grow. Would love if you could be part of this journey.
