Great concept, feels unfinished
The idea behind this system is really good, and it's great to see a different type of product on Appsumo, in a sea of SEO and AI writer tools! As a concept and on paper all the elements are there, and it's all designed to cut out a lot of time with in person interviews.
The problem is that it doesn't really deliver well on any one front
*Setting up an interview*
Good
1) It's an easy system to pick up and use- in fact it's pretty rudimentary
2) the pre written questions are really helpful, and the UI is OK to add and move them around
Bad
1) background image isn't editable/movable before you add it and there's no indication of desired image size
2) Interview expiry date format doesn't reflect any user/admin settings (US/UK date format- I think it's in ISO format?)
3) You can't amend the preparation times between questions
4) You can only have max 10 minutes of answers per candidate
5) Integrations- should read 'integration'- there is only one (Calendly)
*Experience as an interviewee*
1) Resume is PDF only (many send as Docx)
2) The user has to agree to interviewer.ai's terms, not the interviewing company's- and twice! Once at the personal details sreen and again at the interview screen- why?
3) The instructions are hard coded (eg "This is your opportunity to showcase your personality, passion, and energy so give it your best shot!")- says who? What about if that's not what the opportunty is or the kind of language we use?
4) The practice question is non changable, and silly and has the potential to make people really nervous
5) There's clunky English around ("your feedback are much appreciated") is very "all your base belong to us!". "Thank you for your precious time to interview with us", isn't much better- and these are non editable screens.
6) Candidates can log in and see their video, but to log is involves techie language- the screen says "Sign in with email OTP"- none of my candidates will have a clue what an 'OTP' is.
*Major issues*
1) I uploaded a phone bill as my CV and got a 39/100 score on my CV. What exactly is the 'AI' looking at?
2) The client interview and reminder emails from Interviewer.ai are not only branded, but include an email address link back to them- why?! The level of branding in general is really very heavy- why? You're unlikely to pick up new users from it!
Overall I think the idea is very very strong indeed, and has a huge market but for the cost I'd expect something that feels far more slick than this- right now it doesn't really offer much more than using Vadoo landing pages and testimonial links, or just recording a Zoom interview. With deals like this it's difficult to know whether it will mature- it reminds me a bit of a previous deal years ago Tallyfy, which was really basic and immature at the time but has grown into a real powerhouse of a product, and with the founders honoring the deal terms as they've added features.
